pondering a 996 turbo

The 997 has a different range of ranges, if you see what I mean, with an increasing degree of seriousness. It is probably a better gauge of general use than our 'Range 1 is OK, but too many Range 2's isn't'. How many is too many, and how bad was each one? The 997 at least gives a bit more detail. These are what I have for the 997 from Loren at RennTech. I assume them to be for the 997.1 models.

997 Carrera
RANGE 1, 7300-7500
RANGE 2, 7500-7700
RANGE 3, 7700-7900
RANGE 4, 7900-8400
RANGE 5, 8400-9500
RANGE 6, 9500 up

997 GT3
RANGE 1, 9000-9200
RANGE 2, 9200-9400
RANGE 3, 9400-9600
RANGE 4, 9600-10000
RANGE 5, 10000-11000
RANGE 6, 11000 up

997TT
RANGE 1, 6800-7000
RANGE 2, 7000-7200
RANGE 3, 7200-7400
RANGE 4, 7400-7900
RANGE 5, 7900-9000
RANGE 6, 9000 up

If you had a lot of 5's and 6's it would probably indicate some serious abuse. Buzzing a GT3 to 11K+ wouldn't be good news. It would be interesting to know the OPCs policy on this for warranty.

Interesting thread. Of course us 993 owners would have no idea what abuse our engines have been subjected to !

Are we bovvered ?

Not really. Maybe it's a case of too much information, so people can wiggle out of warranties. Is there no way to clear these codes, or re-programme the ECU ?
