Poole Quay to the Thames 20th -22nd July

Terrific, thanks Gary Looking forward to the weekend and with any luck the clouds will .... .ff for a bit... Should be there 6ish, will let you know any traffic probs. Cheers, Matt [;)]

Cheers Matt For anyone else watching, if the sun comes out to play on Friday and you fancy blowing the cobwebs off... the Poole at the Quay event is free to attend- just turn up. We'll be there [:D] garyw

ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINS Lets hope its nice all weekend[;)]
The company will be [;)] A lovely couple of stops planned for Saturdayand Sunday... certainly places of interest for sure. [:D] garyw

Well it does seem a common occurrence with the register drives out and some rather good weather..[:D] As ever again we had a dry weekend from our arrival at Poole (although there did seem to be plenty of things falling from the sky by the Quay [] mainly from the seagulls!!) Traffic was an issue on Saturday but to be expected in some ways but we were lucky with the lack of traffic on Alex's Sunday drive- much to the annoyance of some of the passengers [;)] A small group this weekend which did make for a great social time and easier threading the cars through the countryside. A bunch of school kids through the tunnel which I don't think we ever want to grow out of [:D] and hopefully I can get the video sorted from that. As always a great bunch of people and some stunning cars to be seen. Outlook from the hotel.

Actually "Quay for my Car" dedicated to one marque each Friday. Good to see the event was supported by the 997 register and many other individuals including two from Scotland! Official car count was 67 See you all next time.

We had a great weekend - thanks again to some splendid planning by Jo, Gary and Alex - with great coffee/lunch stops, some splendid roads and the usual convivial company. Porsches on the Quay or Quay for my Car[;)]

What can we say that hasn't already been said. Gary & Jo thank you both so much for such a fantastic weekend and to Alex for the drive. Cliff & I had such a great time and it was so lovely to meet you all and to be in such great company. Regards Tracy & Cliff

Sorry all for my early exit and unscheduled stops - turns out one of my turbo actuator rods broke (due to corrosion) and I lost boost. OPC is shipping some new ones over from Germany now and should be as new again by Wednesday. Might use that route for one of my next Reading runs, as despite the odd bits of traffic it wasnt too bad. I know Gary is itching for an Aston Hill run so the area north east of Reading will probably be the next target. Was really great seeing familiar and new faces though - complimented by some fantastic weather.

Hi Alex Sorry that you had to leave us early yesterday but thanks for organising the drive. Hope you will be up and running again soon. Cheers Tracy & Cliff

Whilst I fully accept the 997 Turbo doesn't make the most of its exhuast sound, the odd tunnel does assist a bit.. Turn it up and listen to the background sounds....[:)] [link=http://youtu.be/ywCH9aeN5S4]http://youtu.be/ywCH9aeN5S4[/link] And a quick view of some of the styles of roads [;)] [link=http://youtu.be/S5FmXQn3P44]http://youtu.be/S5FmXQn3P44[/link] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]garyw [FONT=verdana, geneva"][FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Finally have a moment to catch my breath after this epic weekend.. The line up of events and places to be was superb. I have some faint younger memories of Poole, quite a koo to be staying just yards from where my grand folks lived as I was a child. Instead of wandering to the beech and feeding gulls it was onto a Porsche cruise ( I can easily live with that ). Many thanks to Gary & Jo for setting this up and keeping it all together. Sunday was another great route thanks Alex and glad your fine Turbo is a simpler external fix.. I've certainly had my fix now after yesterday at Silverstone, I'm sure I let double the entire quantity of air from my tyres through the day... Just one minor wounded engine to a Turbo S so far as I know. Cheers to all for now...Matt

They used to sell some of the biggest steaks I've ever seen in a pub in Lechlade [:)] Unfortunately it's now an Indian Restaurant! [:(] Regards, Clive.

So did anyone notice this venue in the opening sequence of the Olympic games??? [;)] The bit where they opened up the umbrellas.. [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tm7NWsxRRc]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tm7NWsxRRc[/link] 44 seconds...
