So basically a few months ago i decided to strip my porshce 944s 16v 1988 engine apart and get the rocker cover and manifold powder coated when that was done and we put the engine back together it wouldn't start. We have been trying for months to get this car back up and running but no luck. The car will crank over but won't fire. We then put a new crank sensor in and the car started for about a 1½mins and then died and since then we haven't been able to get it to fire up
Spark is good (a brown spark dk if it needs to be a blue spark)
Fuel is good
Injectors just been serviced
Compression good
We have also taken off the cam shaft pully and checked the timing several times and all seems correct.
I'm based in Hertfordshire so if you know anyone who can help or have any ideas that would be great
Many thanks

Did you replace both the sensors on the bell housing? and did you correctly gap the sensor from the flywheel?

Run through ALL the tests in the Clarks Garage ignition troubleshooting section, hopefully you will then identify the fault.

I have just replaced both sensors and nothing the only thing I can think of which was strange is when we crank the car over the ignition coil drops to 7v which I dk if normal

Worth removing the DME relay, spray the socket with GT85-check the relay is working with a PP9 battery & leads to the coil circuit in it IIRC terminals 85-86-may have got lazy with being out of use.

I posted a complete troubleshooting guide above, with these kind of problems you need to be methodical and step through all steps of the troubleshooting until you identify the issue. Starting problems are common on the 944 and the guide is pretty comprehensive covering the common failure points of the ignition system.
