Hope everyone in the 50+ Porsches who joined us on Porkers in the Trough II today had a great time and enjoyed the scenic route and stunning views.

Thanks to Sue and Mac for organising another R18 successful event,a nd to Fred Hindle for the route map. They even managed to organise brilliant sunshine all day through the route and all afternoon at Gawthorpe Hall. Thanks especially to our event sponsors Porsche-Apart and Garstang Hotel and Golf Club.

Thanks also to BBC Radio Lancashire for the interview on Saturday afternoon to allow me to promote the event, Lancashire One TV who covered the event throughout the day, (and who will be showing this shortly on Sky and on their website www.lancashireone.com) and to Lancashire Life for covering the event and their photographic presence.

Without you the entrants, the events like this would not take place, so thanks to everyone from Lancashire, Yorkshire, Scotland, Norwich, Lincolnshire and Northern Ireland who attended. I hope you will joining us again next year. I trust you all had a safe journey back home.

Don't forget our next major event is Woodvale Rally on 6th/7th August. See Porsche Post or drop me an e-mail for an entry form.
(See www.woodvalerally.com for more info)

We are able to offer a heavily discounted ticket price, which covers both days and includes a free members BBQ on Saturday evening. Places are running out so please book quickly.

Also thanks to PCGB Chariman Barry Smith and Operations Director Alan Weslhman who took time out of their hectic PCGB schedules to take part and for presenting the many prizes.

Really enjoyed they day - great route, great weather, great company. Our thanks to everyone involved in organising it, proud to have been a part of it.

A quick question, where can we find the photo that was taken of us and our car when we arrived and how do we buy a copy?

Look forward to doing it all again at PitT 3 next year.

Mike & Lisa

Many thanks from me -to David & Judith-Mac & Sue-to Fred for the route-still can't work out why my trip gradually agrees less & less with the Tulip details-on that basis ,the car has done a lot less miles than it appears.
Cheers & here's to next year.
Colin.

Really hope we can make this next year, sounds like it is growing into a very popular event right on our doorstep too. In dog news, we had Blackpool Champ show today, where Bella got third so qualified for Crufts :)

The route was designed for Porsches Colin!

Many thanks to all, brilliant day.

Rob,
Well I managed to keep up on the bendy bits-the problem was coming round a bend - to find everyone stopped![:)]

A huge thank you to Mac & Sue and David & Judith and to everyone from your region (and the other guests too) who made us feel so welcome. You guys really are blessed, great cars, great scenery and a really thriving region which helps everyone enjoy their Porsche experience to the full.

We will definately be coming back to see you again. Once again many thanks for making us feel so welcome and giving your time to provide such a great day.

Once again, a marvellous mix of motoring and mansions. Always a winner ! Thanks to one and all involved for the organisation side of it and, also, for the brilliant acoustics within the amphitheatre-like surroundings at the front of the Hall. Just brilliant hearing everyone leaving one by one with such a gorgeous guttural bass throb every time.
(Yes, you can tell we were at the back. One of the last in = one of the last out !)

Neat too that it was 50-odd Porsches for 50 years of the club.

A fine afternoon had by all.

It is always very pleasing to read that people had a good time on an event you have organised.

It was complicated this year for many reasons, including a bout of chickenpox at the main route-planning stage, the production of an ornate wedding cake and subsequent attendance at an important family wedding, a route that just wasn't right and which necessitated driving it six times altogether, and finally a printer which refused to work correctly on Saturday. We must be good actors if no-one noticed how frazzled we were.

It is also so rewarding that our Region can play host to members from other areas (I think we forgot to mention Hampshire, Suffolk and Northumberland.) We like to think that we are a welcoming lot, as our philosopy is that we are not just a Region of PCGB, but a group of great friends. Including others in that group is natural to us all, so if you enjoyed yourselves, come again next year. (Goes quickly into a darkened room to lie down at the thought of next year.)

What a difference good weather makes to any event. We indeed were lucky as if anything it was almost too hot at Gawthorpe Hall. On our way home in the evening it absolutely poured with rain, and it had obviously been raining during the afternoon, but not where we were !!

We have many people to thank. Fred for helping so much with the route planning, the management and staff at Garstang Country Hotel, who did such a sterling job with the production of endless quantities of bacon butties and cups of tea and coffee and for sponsoring the use of a room, Tony Bolton for the cut-out car but most especially Simon Butterworth of Porsch-Apart for the rally plaques and generous sponsorship.

We must also thank Barry Smith, our Chairman, who organises parking like a sergeant major on a parade ground. Brilliantly done Barry. Alan Welshman, our Operations Director also took time out of his busy schedule to join us, and seemed to enjoy some spirited driving. How nice it was to sit down for an evening meal with them and twenty others at the end of the day.

Now a few words about our Regional Organisers, David and Judy Baker. It takes some sort of courage to turn up wearing pig's ears and snouts to a car event, but to be interviewed and photographed for Lancashire Life is something else, not to mention doing the same for Lancashire One Television. Good on you both !!

Finally if you think that Lancashire is all back to back houses, Coronation Street and Blackpool, you have missed an area of outstanding natural beauty which is comparatively unknown and well worth a visit.

Let's build on this event and spread the word. Here's to 2012.

Cheers Jez....guys!!... [:)] Great day, great drive...... & a top guide following the white spyder man!!

see you at "Pork in the Rough" next year then [:D]

+1 on the thank you after many years of road rallying in that area it was nice to see it in day light and not fall out with the wife for a wrong slot agree with colin i was 2 miles out going and 1.5 comeing back you must have had alot of wheel spin ?[:)]

To see the on line TV video of Porkers in the Trough go to www.lancashireone.com its worth a look even if it is just to hear David's final proclamation.

Mac & Sue & R18
Many thanks for a great day out and for making R7, the Yorkshire folk, very welcome.
It is a good while since I travelled through the trough, like Ray it brought back memories of night rallies in the 70's (long gone are those days!)
All in all it was clearly very succsessful in terms of PR and especially in raising funds for the cancer charity, well done all involved in the organisation.

We'd like to echo David & Mac's thanks & also add one of our own. A huge thank you to all at Region 18 who once again made us feel like part of the family.

Another great drive through the fantastic Lancashire countryside, this time with great weather thrown in. It was also comforting to discover that we're not the only 944 with a dickie trip meter. We extended the day with a scenic run over Hartside Pass on the way home to Northumberland with the top down all the way (even through two heavy showers on the M6).

We'd have loved to join you at Woodvale too, but unfortunately it clashes with the Croft Nostalgia Weekend. Hopefully we'll see some of you at Raby in September, if not we'll see you all again at next year Porkers (sorry if that mention sent you running back to your darkened room, Mac).

Thanks again, Greg & Deb

Thanks very much Macandsue for a great day out. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and everybody made us feel very welcome.
I hope that I can do the same when some of you venture north of the border.
Thanks Mac for giving me a call to let me know that we are stars of the small screen. Had a look and a big laugh at the "items" which are advertised to the purchasers of pig ears etc.
The scenery as we all saw was indeed excellent and as Sue said Lancashire is not all Coronation Street. We`d better get in touch with the AA Routefinder people because the instructions for Garstang said "when the M6 becomes cobbled turn left". (I think I heard that on The Comedians in 1967.........nearly fell out my pram laughing......I was a late developer !).
It says a lot for the event that people want to travel from other regions to take part. It would appear that Porkers in the Trough is now in with a chance of becoming the second longest running entertainment phenomenon to emerge form Lancashire. Can`t seem to remember the other one ? Minnie Caldwell`s Cat in the Trough doesn`t seem to have the same ring to it.
The best aspect of being a guest at another regional event is that you are able to use roads and visit areas that only the locals know. I would certainly recommend visiting other regional events after the trip we enjoyed on Sunday.
Once again thanks to you all for great hospitality and hope to see some of you up in our area soon.

Cheers,

Elinor & Cameron.
