The closing date for this event is Friday 15th June. This is BEFORE the next meeting, so if you are hoping to get one of the few spaces still available please be sure to post the entry form to us as soon as possible.

The route is as near as possible to completion. We went out for the second time yesterday, taking advantage of the glorious weather, and even though we have seen the scenery many times ourselves we couldn't help but comment on the breathtaking views. Keep your fingers crossed for the 30th.

bumped for Mac and Sue.

I know you like to be top of the tree [:D]

If the weather is like today, Porkers in the Trough will be epic this year!

Mac and I did the GPS run today. Looks like it will be another excellent Porkers.

See you at Garstang on Sunday. Don't forget your sunglasses.

Cheers,

Looking froward to it....and the weather forecast seems good!
What time are we meeting for the 'bacon butties'?
CU

If you aim to get to Garstang between 09:00 and 09:30 I think the bacon butties should be hot when you are eating them.

Cheers,

Thanks, Fred. I know what you mean! A pot of tea would be nice ......and HP sauce.......before anyone asks, for the bacon NOT the tea!

Looking forward to sunday, its clear blue skys here and due to get to about 28 degrees so dont forget your sun tan cream

safe to say its classic lancashire weather........[;)]

Now back from Porkers in The Trough 2013-another fantastic day out-another fantastic route superbly planned by Mac & Sue with Fred's help, wonderful collection of our friends from all over the country,Scotland,Cornwall,Isle of Sheppey,Derbyshire, good to see Greg Harm again from Newcastle & so on-apologies from anyone not mentioned-too much stuff to remember but R18 is really impressed by the support.

There is bound to be a report in PP in the future so don't want to step on David Baker's toes but remember to book this next year if you really want to have a great day out in the beautiful countryside which is The Trough of Bowland. Sorry, no pictures-too busy driving.

Thanks to everyone who entered Porkers IV today. It was great see members in 75 Porsches from throughout the country from Suffolk to Scotland and even as far North as an oil rig north of The Shetlands.

I trust you all enjoyed The Trough of Bowland and our Lancashire hospitality and friendly banter.

To reinforce Colin's comments, thanks to Sue & Mac for organising yet another successful event, to Fred for helping get the mileages GPS correct for the road book, and to our sponsors PorschApart, Garstang Hotel and Golf Club, Autografix, and Romers for their PA system.

Thanks to the Mayor of Garstang, Chris Ryan, who set us off (and to whom complaints about the state of road repairs should be sent), and the Mayor of South Ribble,Tracey O'Reilly, who greeted us at Samlesbury Hall.

Thanks to all entrants who donated to our charity Rosemere Cancer Foundation. I will post a figure of what the total raised was as soon as I get it from Rosemere.

I hope you will all join us for Porkers in the Trough V next year. and encourage other members for your regions to come along. I am sure Sue and Mac will be starting planning for our 2014 event in the next few days

Could I just reply with a big thanks to everyone who organised the event. Mac & Sue have created a great event. We`ve enjoyed 2 "Porkers", this one and 2011, and have had a great time and been made very welcome by everyone we met from the region. I`ve already tried to pre-guess when the next date will be in relation to my work rota and am already keeping my fingers crossed for the next one.
Great to get a mention in despatches for my travels but I`m only out there for 21 weeks per year and certainly do not consider it to be home.
I can only apologise in advance for not meeting anyone who advances north of the border who I am not able to meet at future events due to work commitments. Someone has to help the guys who dig out the V-Power juice from the sea.
We`re planning a hot-pot for Monday`s evening meal - a lamb one - if that`s allowed ? Recipes accepted in exchange for porridge ones - golden rule is : no sugar and plenty of salt.
Once again guys - thanks for a great day out.

Best wishes,

Elinor and Cameron

What a lovely day! The bacon barms on arrival, activitites during the day through to the dinner at the end were lovely. The route was great and I particularly enjoyed Dunsfold bridge. I was motivated to cycle Nick of Pendle haven driven up it! The only change I would make would be to follow the hint to take my own Picnic for lunch. Finally for Phyllida to win car of the event was a complete surprise. Thank you to one and all but especially Sue. Philip R8

Glad it went well.

Hope you all had a great time - 75 cars is an impressive turnout for sure.

Tom and I were thinking about you whilst we were at Silverstone!

Just out of interest, who won the quiz [;)]

Need you ask Rob? We made the quiz a ""Who am I?" and Jeremy still managed to win, even without any references to the internet.

Having surfaced from total exhaustion this morning we are very gratified by the lovely comments we have received. It sort of makes up for the greeting at Samlesbury Hall of "Do you know that they have closed the road?" We can only apologise to those who arrived at the road junction in Chatburn just as the water company closed off that very important 50 yards, without having first put up the diversion signs, but unfortunately there is little anyone can do in those circumstances. We can only offer the route around Pendle Hill on another Porkers event as consolation. Those who arrived later were able to just go with the flow and found themselves able to re-route quite easily.

Many of our visitors from other areas commented on the spectacular scenery and said they had no idea that Lancashire was so beautiful, and so empty. The tiny villages in the Ribble Valley and the view from Jeffrey Hill (Longridge Fell) were particularly talked about.

Thank you to everybody who took part. We hope you enjoyed your day. thank you also for your contributions to Rosemere Cancer Foundation. They are very gratefully received.

David talks with enthusiasm that we will planning "Porkers V" from today, and as the details arrived for the Christmas lunch last week, he is not far wrong. (Going now to lie down in a darkened room !!)

Recognising that handsome devil in the last photo probably won it for me.....[;)]

Team Mangetout just keeps on winning.....[:D]
