Porkers in the Trough IV

ORIGINAL: macandsue

We made the quiz a ""Who am I?" and Jeremy still managed to win

Was the question - who am I?

I am the founding member of a famous Racing Team. I have 2 Porsches. I am from Yorkshire, I am too tall for a Cayman and I lack the hairdressing skills required for a Boxster. I like drinking pints of bitter and driving more slowly than Rob. I am currently carrying out vital missionary work. I support Sheffield Wednesday, even on a Thursday.

Well, what more can be said. Another excellent event, superb run, some very interesting roads and a nice little diversion to further add to the pleasure. Big thanks to Mac and Sue for organising the event and to all those who helped out. It's only by their efforts that we get to enjoy a great day out. Our third Porkers and we managed to keep up our performance of having a "bit of trouble" in all of them so we felt quite at home! Great run, lovely company and an entertaining end to the day at Garstang. Already looking forward to next year's event. Thanks a lot, hope that loads of cash was raised for Rosemere.

Can only echo previous comments, a really enjoyable day, our grateful thanks to everyone involved in organising the event. Fantastic driving through some lovely areas with breathtaking scenery, even the weather behaved! Look forward to next year, can we put our names down now please [;)]

PS Here's a link to our video of the line up outside Salmesbury Hall.

No the question was:-

I was a racer on track and water. I have four Porsches. I am from Hampshire but have lived in Lancashire longer than anywhere else. I can still give you young 'uns a drive to remember even in my old 911, and someone named me "the Pensioner Stig".
Now who could that be?

Just to echo everyone else's thoughts - thanks to Mac & Sue (& others involved) for organising the event. Great scenery, some great roads (and some shocking ones as well!!); a good run out. And 'that' witch at Samlesbury Hall - she freaked me out!!!

Philip Hamson drove up from Loughborough area today to look at & then buy the D90 wheels I offered in response to his forum post.

We sat in our garden in the lovely sun with a welcome coffee/biscuits & amongst other topics but mainly Porsches,we discussed last weekends R 18's 4th Porkers -in-the Trough & Philip said how much he enjoyed it ,was delighted that his car won the prize,& praised Mac & Sue & a special mention for Fred. The unexpected diversion kindly introduced by United Utilities was added frissance to a super event.

I know Philip has already posted under his Tiger King forum name but thought our conversation was worth a punt-someone comes that far, loved the day & was not at all fussed by a simple diversion even by the fact he lost his tailpipe clamp somewhere-possibly those bumpy road bits--so what!

I say-Mac & Sue ( & Fred)take lots of comfort from that sort of response-the world out there loves you.

Thanks for that Rob.

A picture of a very disappointed mayor. He wanted so much to come on the run but had to attend a family celebration.

By the time the figures were given by Rosemere to the Lancashire Evening post we had already received another £50.00 and another member was going to make up the amount to £800.00. That is great news and Rosemere are delighted.

It makes all the effort worthwhile and we had a great day out as well.

I had flicked over to the website as I ate my buttie at lunchtime and was surprised to see Mac's smiling face on my screen! Nice article.

If you ask me, a good surprise diversion clearly improves the money generated-should be incorporated into future P'sITT-& be part of the quiz-vis--state the mileage reading when you encountered the secret diversion & the reading when you got back on route--that will fool the moaners-another good question could be --how many potholes were there between waymarkers X & Y say.

Perhaps a cardboard cutout of a really smiling Mac could be placed in the diversion-another quiz question say -where was the big smiling Mac? -give or take a black jean leg.
