Porsche 944 makes the Pistonheads Shed of the week

ORIGINAL: pauljmcnulty

ip - and I'm still waiting on someone putting their hand up to say they paid £1200 a side!

I'm not sure anyone's ever said they've paid £1200 per side for sills. Plenty of people have paid £2400 for restoration work to a very high standard, but that would be a lot more than just the sills. [8|]

And that is exactly my point! [:)]

Personally I think what people need to do is be honest and admit that their cars aren't worth their agreed value on the open market, luxury cars are really suffering right now and a very good 944 can be had for £2000, a £1000 944 is about the right price for a half decent one with an MOT.

Its going to take a few more years and half of the current 944s on the road to be scrapped before they ever become truely collectable, cast your minds back 5 years and it was the same for the 924, now they are getting rarer the price is edging up.

Just look at the humble Ford XR2, 5/6 years ago you could buy 3 for a grand, now most of them have rotted away you're looking a £2.5k for a well sorted one, thats more than a decent S2 will cost you!

At something of a contrast in terms of asking price !!!!!!!

No, but one user is annoyingly and 'knowledgeably' advising people that this is what it will cost. Remedied by using the 'block' feature.....

I still think the £1200 per side story isn't typical of what most people are paying.

C'mon, hands up if you paid £2400 to get your sills replaced?!

last year my insurers paid £1250 for Staddons (cowboy bodyshop) to replace rear bumper, brackets and paint job (bumper only ) and it was a rubbish job []

I expect it depends on how much work is required. If the inner cills have gone its a lot of work.
