Porsche announce Rennsport ReunionV
- Thread starter Laurence Gibbs
- Start date
An Excellent Event and the Hilton Hotel just down the road was excellent too with many interesting cars
in the car park not just Porsche cars but many Muscle America cars too.
I attended guest of a friend in Placerville who was invited by Kevin Buckley of the Racer's Group with me
going in a Rare 997 Turbo S 918 Edition and Stephen in his new 918 Spyder with both cars getting looked
at and pictures taken.
Maybe one day this event can be in the UK but Porsche USA know how to put on a show and I'll be returning
in 4 years time when the next one's planned.
I now have some hard driving to do as I'm off driving Highway one and a few more route's before returning
to the UK in a fortnights time and it's nice I have a friend who loans me a special car for my driving experience
in the USA as it's not the same as my Cayman waiting at home.
Yours sincerely Kevin.
Ps If you have never been to an Rennsport Reunion event before you must go it's an Experience not to miss. []

I think that Rennsport would not work nearly as well in the UK or in mainland Europe. But it would make my participation easier in 4 years time. That has become a definite must do, perhaps with the RSR... I won't take it in my grave.
Hacki, too many pictures, and not many as good as these...

Had a lot of fun as we had Gerrard Larrousse to stay for a couple of days before the event (his stories of Porsche at Le Mans are v.interesting... safe to say that he is STILL unimpressed about 1970!), and I got to travel up some amazing back roads in a sweet little 911...
Felt the racing was actually a bit lower quality in terms of 917's/908s etc than when I was at Monterey for the Historics in 2011 ish but it was great to see some old buddies and hear the stories first hand from the old boys. Loved it...

PhilRS said:Just amazing and very difficult to put into words. Let me try. First, it is organised by the Americans with massive support from the factory so the atmosphere is relaxed and particularly friendly. Second, it is a museum on wheels, around a great track and some of the drivers are pros and really go for it. Third, there is a lot of money lavished on the preparation of the cars. Fourth, it lasts long enough that you can just immerse into it, meet great people (in my case, Jochen Rhor, team owner/driver of my car and his then mechanic), see many, many great things Porsche and feel the genuine enthusiasm everywhere. Fifth... and then there was the weather...

Not even Spa Phil, sure if the Americans and Porsche AG organised the event, think the Yanks sorted something out at Spa before[]
