Porsche Buying in the North East

Ladies and Gents,

Hi, I'm new to the Forums and considering taking the plunge into 'classic' Porsche ownership. Top of the list would be a 1980's 911 SC or Carrera. Could any of you help with advice for dealers or good places to start the hunt for a car. I live in the Aberdeen area btw.

Thanks,

Hilbert

Welcome

Perhaps the guys up in Aberdeen area can steer you in the right area as I do not know any dealers .I suggest you try giving Geo Morrison a call 0141 643 1768 he is a repairer of Porsches and might know of someone selling .Be prepaired to look around for the right car ,but the wait will be worth it..If you are also a PCGB member look in the PP there are always a few in there ,a word of warning do get the car inspected and look for invoices of work carried out the more paper work the better happy hunting .

Thanks for the reply and the excellent advice Brian. Sounds like it might be a bit of a hunt but I'm sure it will be worth it. Any thoughts from Aberdeen area owners? I did notice a garage 'Bavarian Auto Werks' in town who had a few Porsche's, the window stickers seem a bit on the high side though.

Cheers,

Alan

Hi there

When I bought mine, it was a local car bought through a dealer up in Buckie. It was a long hunt and I looked at loads of cars. I did a lot of research and went for a G50 boxed 3.2 Carrera, in fact it was a SuperSport I ended up with.

Do a lot of track days a year, so its well balanced for track and road.

In Aberdeen, there is Bavaria (a bit sceptical of them) and Pitstop, thats about it for independants. You can also put your name in with the OPC Town & County, because sometime people do try and get rid of the older models.

Keep an eye out in the Porsche Post and come along to one of the monthly meets, you can always gleem some info from the regulars.

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the info. I've not had a look at Pitstop yet and thats a good tip about Town and County. I suppose I'd better keep my ear to the ground and see what turns up.

Cheers,

Hilbert
