porsche dealer experience good or bad

tex

New member
i put my boxster into my local porsche dealer in aberdeen, service department was very good but was dissapointed when i discovered a coil pack hadn't had the bolts tightened i know it's no bigi but come you expect better from a main dealer..lost my custom

I know it may seem like the gods them selves created our cars but alas their only human so don't judge all of them by one persons cock up

What was their attitude when you told them? I'm willing to accept people make mistakes, I do occasionally myself. [&:]

If it was my company I'd want to have the chance to investigate, and ensure that the staff know they got something wrong so try harder next time. I'd also prefer to be given the chance to apologise, and maybe offer something in return like a discount on the next service.

they didn't seemed bother they said sorry that was it they used the excuse that it was the third one that was going to be replaced

just had the boxster 987 serviced in opc cardiff,(minor service and brake fluid)dropped car off wednesday pm and loan car was waiting for me( brand new cayman 2.9 pdk ) never been a big fan of automatics but i thought the pdk was excellent ,after driving it for a day and about 100 miles.(when i change to a 981 might spec pdk instead of a manual) picked my car up today (thur pm) i thought the service i recieved from the opc was excellent i also recieved a discount for being a club member.

Just had a minor service on the Cayman S carried out at OPC Sheffield, I've been using them for almost 8 years and even when there have been problems they have always tried and usually succeeded in achieving a satisfactory solution.

I always get club discount and if needed a courtesy car.

Mostly I take the car to them early Saturday Morning and go shopping in Meadowhall they will drive me there and collect later but if the weather is ok it's only a short walk.

I also know several people who recommend OPC Leicester.

While my 986 was still warranty-able, I had mine done at OPC Silverstone. Had a variety of swish courtesy cars from them and no real problems with service. Have switched to local indys now though, one of whom can collect the car from my home.

lol courtesy car?? i just got asked if they could drop me off anywhere, think it is just because it's an old boxster plus it's aberdeen that's why they wern't that bothered

Recently had the 944 belts and service carried out, the car was in for 2 days as they had no spark plugs in stock or the rollers for the belt change.
When they phoned me as a follow up after collecting the car to rate the service I told them about the slight cock, up as a result they sent a Porsche Selection golf umbrella as an apology.
I always receive good service and discount as club member and am generally happy, another point I like is that they always call me to advise the car is ready and ask if I mind that they don't wash the car due to the shine and condition - happy with that!!

hi all recently had a major service at porsche nottingham, when i picked the car up all was good untill the weekend when i went to use the boot ,to find oil in the small area where you top the oil up and also a sheared off bolt which holds the whole unit to the car,
i rang porsche they had the car back and refused to take resposibility there for i was charged to put it right.

My thoughts to. I initially give people the benefit of the doubt... only once mind, depending on their response, then take my business else where.

Last October my local OPC did a full geometry set up on my 3 year old Cayman.

When I got the car back it felt a lot lighter at the front when cornering, which I assumed was due to the work they did as they said front and back were out and needed adjustment.

Last week, I checked the tyre pressures for the first time since the work (I know they should be checked more often and I was just being lazy). I found the front tyres were both at 37 PSI, much higher than the 31 PSI in the manual. I then checked the rear tyres, they were at 31 PSI.

Clearly the technician had got it round the wrong way. Makes me wonder at what stage during the alignment process the tyres were inflated. I know the front were correct at 31 PSI before it went to the OPC because new tyres were fitted 2 days before and I watched as the tyre fitter inflated them.

I will be writing to the OPC to comment on this, not that I'm expecting any response as it is so long after they did the work. Needless to say they won't be doing my next service when it is due at the end of this year. I am lucky that I live between 2 OPC and can take my pick.

I'm midway between Sheffield and Leicester and actually closer to Nottingham but have rarely felt confident with them due to the attitudes I've experienced there from showroom staff. Although I have bought parts such as a battery and have found the parts dept good.

Leicester OPC is just off the A46 from Nottingham. A nice drive

Since I've bought my last two Porsches from Sheffield I use their workshop services.

Where are you Nick?

PC leicester for us has been nothing but fantatic service from The moment they opened their doors.

Martyn Ray in service will never let you down and is a fantastic guy to boot.

Glenn Monoghan the parts Manger can not do enough to help and will properly look after you.

We both work in the service industry and have to say that this service has been nothing but first class.

They are the guys to deal with.........

Hi Peter
Is it ok to just say very very very bad. And very very very expensive if they do get it wrong. Also very very very dangerous . Also HQ don't want to know they say it is between you and the particular OPC. I can't say any more because my particular beef is in the hands of Solicitors now and then Trading standards. delete as neccessary.
This is Mac not Sue

Why not? Perhaps a bit of truth might encourage dealers to take a more customer-centric attitude. That way good dealers thrive poor dealers go out of business.
