Porsche Display at Althorp - 30th May

Nene Valley Rotary club has invited us to show our cars at the Spring Bank Holiday Country Fair - Monday 30th May. This is to be held in the grounds of Althorp in Northamptonshire, the family home of the Spencers.

We have been asked to display a collection of cars from the Porsche range and we are trying to secure apporximately a dozen.

We would like to try and and get volunteers to spend the day at Althorp and put their Porsche on display, in a cordoned off area. Essentially for viewing only. We would like to get a mix of vehicles, any models any age.

Because we are putting a ring round the vehicles we hope to ensure that visitors can see the cars, but the cars won't suffer from sticky fingers, bubble gum and ice-cream accidents.
At present we are planning to put up a gazeebo, or similar, which can offer information about Porsche and Porsche Club GB and there will be someone around during the day to look after this area. We are working on ideas for fund raising at the event as well. We have yet to draw our conclusions on this but are still happy to accept any new thoughts at the moment.
We are expecting that those displaying cars will have free access and we are also trying to negotiate a reduced rate for any PCGB members who simply want to attend the event.

So volunteers please!

I have put up a web page which I'll keep updated with more information as it becomes available.

Oohhhh...Nice one. This event clashes perfectly with the Stoke Goldington Country Fair & Steam Rally...

We organised 25 cars for the 2 days and it was a mammoth task. The organisers have asked us to attend this year again, but with the Althorop thingy happening the same day, there will be little chance of getting the right no. of cars to both events.

In fact last year, 50% of attendees were "non R10".

So......

So if we are not going to do Stoke Goldie then let's do this, only 10 minutes from me, or are we going to put something together for Goldie again

Lovely venue - I remember when we used to have the annual Porsche event there.

Do we know whether we would have to leave the cars there all day?
I'd like to bring my family but then I can't guarantee I could leave the car until late in the day.

The exact times at present are not known. We do hope to have the cars available for as long during the day as possible. This will then tie in with any fundraising and demonstrations that may be included.

We should have better times and details in the v. near future. I'm hopefully going to be talking with the folks from the Rotary club either this week or next.

Grazie. La mia madre inoltre è andato a Venezia e neppure non ho ottenuto un t-shirt

Tony,

Spoke with Mike & Kim last night and suggested I email you regarding Althorp.

Mandy & I would like to display our Porsche (993 C4S Arena red) - we attended your concourse event last year at OPC Silverstone and had a great time.

Hope you can include us for this event.

Graham (West Midlands Region 9)[:)]

Tony,

As a 'Forum Virgin', the email I sent to you states 'Non-member'. I am a PCGB member and have been for the last 6 years.

As this is my first time on the Forum, can anyone explain why it states non member???

It's probably an easy solution but I put it down to an 'age' thing.

Cheers, Graham

Tony

Over from region 8, if you require a 1990 Guards Red 964 C4 I'd be up for this.

Regards

Rob

So that's about 10 at present. Only a couple more and we could be fully booked up 3 months in advance.

Great stuff.

In the spirit of R10 togetherness and cameradery - count me in (if you need anymore 996's)[:)]

Else I will jsut tag along for the day.
