Porsche Sports Exhaust

I guess this is the sports exhaust parts list + button and coding

Interestingly I investigated the retrofit PSE option for my Cayman R. On a demo vehicle it did not make much difference to standard. I am also told that when retrofitted the PSE is the standard bore without the larger diameter primary pipe of the R. (not sure if that is also the case for the factory original fit option) So I am looking at non Porsche options with a larger bore. If anyone knows of one I would be pleased to hear from them.

Didn't have chance to look at Tony Banks as I had already decided on OEM Porsche Sports Exhaust as didn't want to void warranty and as I already drove a PSE car for a week I knew what it sounded like and am really happy with it

Any vids of what Tony Banks exhaust sounds like?

I'm having mine done by Tony on the 18th Aug and will upload a before/after video....I'm hoping for a similar sound to the Evox here: [link]https://youtu.be/OwUwGNigoH8[/link]

I am picking my 981S up tomorrow and have asked for the PSE to be fitted before collection. Price quoted was £2272 and £556 for cruise control.

Very expensive but I will want some form of exhaust and decided to keep it OEM for residuals. I will definitely be unplugging the vacuum pipe so its 'fully' on too ;)

If you unplug the vacuum tube (from the rear boxes) without somehow then plugging the open tube ends you will get 'Cooling System Fault' CEL as the cooling system valves and the Sports Exhaust switches run off the same vacuum source.

Sorry I didn't explain that correctly, I will be unplugging the electrical connector from the engine end so the vacuum is not live as such.

No CELs reported from my research! :)

Hi Pabs,

I actually enquired about this today also from my local Porsche Centre in Portsmouth - £2330 was the quoted amount. I know for a fact you receive 10% off as a minimum using your card. I recently have rear breaks and other bits and bobs down and by just asking "whats your best price you can do for me", they took of 10%. I then saved a further 10% with the PCGB discount.

It does sound amazing but even at £1864 - its still steep!

I had my exhaust done by Tony Banks a couple of weeks ago and also had the ECU remapped by Quantum. Both went fine and I'm happy with the mods, though the ECU will have to be re-done as I'm going to fit a bigger throttle body and plenum soon. I did a little video about the mods here: [link=https://youtu.be/uaDF_Xwe004]https://youtu.be/uaDF_Xwe004[/link]

There is some cabin drone between 2100 and 2600 rpm but nothing to complain about. The tail pipes look fab and the sound at the top end is wonderful. I drive with my window open these days. Tony's setup is like a well oiled machine and it's a family business with his son and wife working with him. He's a really nice guy, gives you a choice of many tail pipes and sound you want. Great value at just £475 or so.

I was apparently the first Cayman to be remapped by Quantum in the UK and therefore had to have my ECU removed which was a pain and the whole thing took quite a time as I used a mobile technician. We have terrible 3/4G coverage round these parts and he had to move closer to the house to latch on to my wifi. But it all went well though I'm certainly not producing the claimed 282bhp. I have a bog standard 987.1 Cayman (being a poor pensioner) which should be around 245bhp. I'm going to get the car dyno'd in a couple of weeks and will report back, though of course I don't have a 'before' to compare it with. There is undoubtedly more grunt throughout the rev range, particularly at the top end and I did ask for more bhp rather than torque, so I'm happy overall. However, if you're anything like me, you can never have enough power. I may be a pensioner but I'm a kid at heart.
