Porsche Spotting

I've been on the M6 today traveling between J18 and J15 and unusually it was a very pleasurable journey for 2 reasons despite the 40mph contraflow practically along the whole distance between the junctions that is policed by those cameras that log your average speed. The first was now my climate control is up and running I was maintained at a very comfortable 22 degs without which I'm sure I would have par-boiled in my own sweat in the temps we've seen today. The second reason is that I saw tons of Porsche's out enjoying the sun and many of them were older cars - a very nice 928 which I followed for much of the journey, a nice red 964 and a couple of 944's. All looked fantastic, gleaming in the bright sunshine. The journey was topped of with a nice high speed cruise along a clear A50 polished off with a short blast along a twisty A road. Arrived with a nice smile on my face and had forgotten about my 'day after the night before' throbbing headache I had at the beginning of the journey which returned as soon as I stepped out of the car!

With all the congestion and road rage about today I wonder if it is only Porsche drivers (especially drivers of old Porsche's) who still realise that driving is actually a pleasurable thing (the only caveat being when everything is working right)?

Glad you enjoyed the drive. Didn't see you but was heading from Daventry to Liverpool yesterday on M6 between 4 and 10 pm! Hit jam at around jcn12 and eventually bailed out at jcn13 (straight into some road works[:mad:]). Eventually reached Liverpool 6 hours later.[:(] Despite a leaky radiator (the exact location of the leak i haven't yet been able to establish) the old thing still got me home with no overheating. Was sorry to see a nice looking 968 on the hard shoulder though - gave a sorrowful wave.

aahh! junctions 18 & 15 i would have had to have good eyesight to spot you!
 
in an earlier life when i used to use the forum page at seatcupra.net, they had a "spotted" section where you could most messages if you had seen other cars

would be good if we could have one on this forum [;)]

Yes the "spotted" section was (is) good. Idea was nicked from Scoobynet, and that's where I copied the "rules" that were adopted (surrounding posting in said forum) also.

i was "flash" and i had an Ibiza Cupra Turbo so i used to post mainly in the ibiza section.

i think i remember your username from there, and i think Fen used to post there as well.

i sold the ibiza to get the 944, but i don't miss it.

would be good if we could get a spotted section for this forum i recon.

Saw a white 944 S2 (i think) chasing a red Scoobie - Eastleigh.
Actually I notice a few 944's around here in the morning and afternoon.
 
I regularly see a red F-plate n/a on the A38 heading toward jn22 of the M5 in the morning and sometimes the other way in the afternoon.[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana,geneva"]We always waved when I was in my cab but obviously not in the 306. That said someone in an A3 (I think) waved at me in my cab one day at the same spot and I wondered if it is the 944 driver's other car.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
 
A few months ago I saw a 944 passing the Sainsburys in Burpham (north of Guildford, Surrey) which had a very special number plate. It was so special though that I almost drove the VW into the car infront.

What was it, I hear you ask?

Well this is were my memory goes a little hazy as it was either A 944 LUX or A 944 POR. I was going to post on here to see if someone who uses the forum had the plate, but I never got around to it, hence the vague memory.[8|]

Whichever it was, it surely would have been as worth as much as the car!
 
Regularly see a black Lux and more recently have seen white and burgundy ones around the Alton (Hampshire) area - never seen anyone on the forum from this area though.
 
I know that the DVLA released A944 TBO in one of their auctions a while back & it was for sale in Porsche World for a while.
 
Whilst waiting for the AA in Bluewater today, at approx 7pm saw a white 968 CS enter Blue/Fish car park ground level. Red decals.
And a family drive off in their KN.
 
Nice to see something different, I was giving the old girl a treat to Shells finest - parked up was a Black 356 speedster, immaculate and looked fab.
 
Boring and rather sad but I was interested to know what kind of Porsche's the Yanks drive - having been back about a week after spending 16 days touring between La - San Francisco and most inbetween I was slightly surprised . Lost count on 996/Boxsters , 1 997 , 1 928 , 8 964's , 30 993's , 1 924 , quite a lot of 911's ( circa 1970 - 85 ) but didnt spot a single 944/968 .

Oh and a 944 S2 this morning on London Rd, Preston - Guards Red ( best colour [;)] ) on a H Plate - nice wheels

I checked on the DVLA site for A944 TBO. Apparently it's PINK !!!!, 2500cc, (Silver Rose??), and taxed until the end of November. When I was bored at work I found the facility on the DVLA's site.
