As insurance policpies require all modifications to be disclosed a failure to disclose would provide a legitimate reason to challenge any claim in whole or in part.
I have a heavily modified car (bigger engine etc) and there was only £75pa extra on the policy cost from stock to post-modifications. It does of course depend on your insurance company whether they wish to charge extra. It is an OEM option which if fitted originally they would not have been aware of but personally I'd disclose and move insurer if they are difficult.
