PORSCHE WARRANTY FINAL THOUGHT

I'm in the same camp as Black80sxa - I would rather cover the risk and have peace of mind than the £900 in the bank sat there earning stuff all.[]
As mentioned, I order my warranty when I take out my yearly service each year, thus avoiding the cost of the inspection, and as the service is always a few weeks before it lapses, I'm covered if they discover anything ugly.
Horses for courses really - I guess it's the 'be prepared' or 'I'll save the cash and take my chances' rationale for each of us.[;)]
Cheers
Rob

You're not wrong - I am starting to get the money / finance together for my gen 2 997. I called my bank today to tell them what I need to draw down for a deposit in a month or so and the exact words of my contact were... "Hello Dr Surname, I'm guessing you are calling to dent your savings, what car are you buying this time and how much do you need?"

For a minute I told them no I wanted to invest more into my pension, then I owned up!!!![;)]

Well they do promise personal service!!

Or just buy a new car every two years!!!
Done that.. its hurts more than the £900 for warranty [:'(]

It was just timing with the launch of the models, but I went through only keeping them for 2 years.. [:(]
AND that was before the credit crunch [&:]

Difficult decision to have a right answer. I've had the Porsche extended warranty for 1 year, gone without a warranty for another and now considering a "warranty direct" option. Just a few points to clarify to others.
1. The Porsche warranty is underwritten by an independant insurance company, it has nothing to do with Porsche other than Porsche carrying out the repairs.
2. The European breakdown cover is provided by the RAC , it's even the same call center number !
3. The Porsche extended warranty is not as comprehensive as the factory warranty , there is a lot of equipment that is not covered.
4. Other warranty providers also offer Porsche main agent only repairs , cover up to the value of the car , but also cover more equipment for the same premium.
5. If your warranty has expired Porsche require a 111 point check at extra cost of 200 pounds, before you can renew.
6. The Porsche warranty will recover the vehicle to a porsche agent in case of puncture. Porsche will then fit a new tyre or a complete set of tyres if the replacement tyre available does not match the type on the other side of the axel. They will only charge for one tyre , and in most cases always hold the correct tyre for your vehicle. This is worth considering with the current tyre shortages.

Can't be sure on the European call, but UK based the Porsche assist is handled by a seperate team within the RAC (we met them on a trip last year)
They only handle Porsche assist and deal with your request from start to finish..- [:)]
