Possible new owner

ORIGINAL: Sam77
I have a feeling I may have to spend more jsut to get one I could get in.
Mine is a 2000my 3.2S and has adjustable wheel, the wheel slides outwards towards the driver, outwards and upwards at the same time.
I wasnt aware they were different in lower 986 models, you learn something new etc.......
Before upping your allowance to a newer 987 maybe you should sit in one first to see if you fit, afterall we differ in leg/body lengths
afterall your £15-17k is rising [:D]
In which case i think id rather be thinking about an 3.2 S.

Usually Ocean Blue will be older as this was replaced as a "standard" colour by Lapis for the 2001 model-year

Hi. With reference to golf clubs, you can easily fit 1 full set in the boot if you remove the woods and thread them in corner to corner . you will struggle to get 2 sets in ,but my freind pushes his seat back and sits the clubs between his legs. ruins the street cred but does the trick. cheers Andy Mac

Cheers, have decided to try for Ocean as it seems to be a little darker, with either tan or grey interior (I feel my options shrinking).

If you restrict your hunt to only a few colour specs your options will definitely be shrinking [:D]

Here is a set of Pics of our Boxsters thru the years http://www.skampsweb.net/pages/cars/ours/boxcoll/boxcoll.php

The Top one is a May 1999 986 2.7
Next one down was a May 2001 986 Boxster S
Next one down was a July 2003 986 Boxster S - facelift
Last one is our current one July 2005 987 Boxster S

The links on the side take you to other pics of the cars ..

Wonder if any readers of this thread spot their chassis numbers [8|]

Hopefully they will help in ID'ing the differances for you ... Have fun picking your new car .. what ever you get it will be a blast

I had a '97 2.5 and I'm 6''1' and had no problems with the seat lowered to the bottom. I didn't even need the seat all the way back. It depends on your driving position.

Cheers have been looking on pistonheads recently but I need to be able to part ex also I dont think insurance co will be too keen on an S and I'm not sure I'm the sort of driver who would regularly need the extra power.

If I were you, I'd get a 2.7 facelift rather than a 3.2 non facelift. If you are coming from a GTV, the 2.7 will be absolutely fantastic. Most people in a 2.5/2.7 will eventually get to a 3.2 as I did, but as a Boxster virgin a 2.7 will make a bloody marvellous car. Also at the 20k mark, you are on the facelift cusp for a 2.7 and nowhere near for a 3.2 so again, my advise is to go for a newer 2.7.

This one's already sold but looks nice http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/67524.htm. I'd imagine you'd need about £22k to get into a great post facelift 2.7 which I know is £5k above where we started from, but if you are going to ask for advice....

Problem with budgets is that you never seem to stick to them, mentally I know I will end up spending more but as I'm very early in my search I will try to stick with it for the short term. As soon I start chucking in another couple of grand here and there I'll be at 25K before I know it and whilst I'll get a great car I do not want to see a bargin after spending that sort of money.
