Do you need a labourer for this wiring job? I'm sure I could spare a few hours if you need a hand.

Fiend,
job was done last year, Dave won't buy it, he is a 911 fan,he has owned some top drawer 911's 1974 RS Rep, 964 RS 3.8 (Worth a fortune now) another wide body RSR Rep, 996, just waiting for this weather to get sorted and the council to stop slinging salt on the roads, mine taxed then out and about.

Ben, what wheels are fitted to that ?

Good question! To which I don't actually have the answer I'm afraid as there are no manufacturer stamps anywhere on the wheel! Possibly Gemballa? Possibly faux 3-piece rims with the bolts removed and smoothed?

Hi, thanks the front lip spoiler does make a difference,

This was an optional extra at the time in the 80s, I searched high and low for about 4 years, put a request on here with no joy, then one day a forum member rembered that someone was looking for one and put a post on here, it was on ebay, the best thing was that this was brand new never been fitted to the guys car - what luck!!

Have never seen another one fitted or photographed

The mirrors are genuine 968 which I had fitted whilst the respray was carried out.

Regards

I bought 968 mirrors for my s2. Personally, I think these are the biggest single thing that can transform the look of the car. Only problem was the price - way too expensive (£300) but there are so few pairs available which presumably keeps the prices inflated. And then you have the painting/fitting.

Is the fitting all that difficult, kinda would have thought it would be a pritty much straight swap? or am I way out??

If they are genuine 968 mirrors it's a straight swap, with the usual issues of electrical connections and lost screws that you always find with any job on an old car. The problem is the base unit, which is hugely different on LHD cars, and also different on 911s of the same era. Very often these mirrors are stolen, and sold on as whichever type they think will make most money.

Not wishing to be negative, they look the bee's nuts. I, however, traded mine back on the new S2 as they were both a theft risk, the car's parked outside, and they are rubbish if you want to look at what's behind you. [8|]

I know someone with a 968 with flag mirrors,he even has flags on the flag mirrors.....[8|]
(honest)

Not too worried about painting because after summer looking at a respray after Ive got all other work caried out, Is the fitting all that difficult, kinda would have thought it would be a pritty much straight swap? or am I way out??

Not that tricky to fit. I have fitting instructions in a PDF. It would be good to put it into Tech Articles area but I'm not quite sure how to load a PDF up there.
