any word on what you are doing with these features... involves that C thing !

"The new 911 Carrera offers its occupants a wide range of storage compartments and boxes. The glove compartment on the front passenger's side is very roomy, being increased in capacity from 5 to approximately 6.5 litres. A rack for two CDs and a penholder are firmly integrated in the lockable glove compartment, which is just beneath the cupholder now split into two sections and concealed behind a folding trim cover. When released, the left cupholder comes out in front of the central air nozzle in the instrument panel, the right cupholder rests in front of the front passenger nozzle. Whenever necessary, therefore, this provides a highly efficient cooling effect for drinks in the cupholders. "

Think I've seen most of these colours for over 10 years now [][] "Boring & Dull" springs to mind []

It's not a Cayenne!
(Probably handles better on 18's anyway...)
I did say to the dealer that I hoped there would be a delete cupholder option (for the new Boxster). They seemed confused...[&:]

Move engine to the front, put the gearbox at the back, throw away 2 cylinders, slap in a Turbo + a shed load of bits from the States.[8D]

Total, say: £15,000 :ROFLMAO:

And then go looking for 997's to rip the doors off.

Or buy a 993 and just put on the 997 front bumper [:D]

I don't know if they still do it but, last year, I was looking at an Audi price list and, next to the price for each option was the weight in kg of adding the option to the car. It was fascinating.

I don't think Porsche would do it for fear of losing the highly profitable 'extras' people like to specify.

However, we all know that, stealing Colin Chapman's phrase, the best thing you can add to a Porsche is 'lightness'. So, minimise those unnecessary, weighty options and the 997 will be, dynamically far more rewarding. Remember less is more.

Above is what I've gone for...

My order for November production is:

C2S Manual
Midnight Blue
Grey interior
Rear Wiper
19 inch Carrera Classic wheels
Electric sunroof
Self dim mirrors and rain sensor
Heated seats
Electric seats
Navigation module
CD changer
Sports exhaust (if available)

Popular choices although discounted by me -

Although intrigued by it I didn't spec the Sports Chrono package as I think it looks dreadful and I'm not a wannabee race driver.
Also left out the Sports seats as I find them a bit too tight for long distance comfort, I'm quite tall and broad across the shoulders.
Finally why would any specify anything as naff a Porsche crests on the head restraints!!

How can you critise 'Porsche Crests' on the seats and then order something mamby-pamby like 'Heated Seats'[:D] Is this good for a 'medical condition'?
GPM

I like to keep the spec. of my 911s as simple as possible.

But, Heated Seats are fantastic. OK, the benefits may be lost in August, but from October to April they are just so nice. And, so cheap.

Mind you, if you've never had them, you don't know what you are missing

Tim

Sorry to say I rather like the crests, had them on a previous Porker & they looked rather nice, they aren't coloured crests printed on the seats (that would be naff!) they are tasefully stamped into the leather, which leaves a crest imprint at the top of the head rest, lift the cabin slightly & all for just over £130 squid, that's good for Porsche !
Anyway one mans meat & all that so each to their own.

Once we have a good number of specifications choices listed I'll summarise the choices so we can see the most popular colours etc., exciting stuff specifying a brand new Porker, particularly a new 911!! Keep those spec choices coming!

graham m

When you've got a fat *rse like mine that won't fit into the sports seats its got to be kept warm!!!!
Anyway wouldn't it be boring if we all liked the same spec, even more silver with black leather.
Roll on delivery and sharing our experiences

Tim

I've been on the list for a 997 now for 18 months and have gone for the S with these options:
Metallic Seal Grey
19" Carrera Classics
Sports Seats
Auto dimming mirrors
Park Assist
CD changer
PCM sat nav
Sports exhaust
Bose sound pack

Would have been Oct build date but Sports exhaust not available until Nov. Porsche GB still have no idea what some of the options really are for example the aluminium dashboard pack and leather dashboard trim pack - they dont know what they are.
Was warned against the tyre pressure system - waste of money as the pressures fluctuate all the time with temp change.
Frustrating to have to pay an extra £1000 for cobalt blue over standard metallic, typical Porsche robbery.

Shane
Boxster S 03 MY (and for sale!)

Confirmed my order today for Nov production but the bad news is Sports Exhaust is only from Jan production onwards at best (along with all the other 'late availability' options).
Also, Porsche seem to have changed the prices of some options again - the rear wiper is £227 and isn't standard fit, Sports seats are now £256 and the CD changer is £348 even though its printed as £248 in the price list.
Got to see the press cars today in the metal at an OPC - it looks fantastic in Seal Grey - but chrome tail pipes will be a necessary add-on as all the cars had dull corroded looking tail pipes.
S

My spec is below

Carrera S
Altlas Grey
Black full leather
Sports exhaust
Standard 19" wheels
Adaptive sports seats
Sat Nav
Bose sound
6 CD
Rear wiper
Heated seats
Red seat belts
Park assist
Short shifter
Tyre pressure monitoring
Auto dimming mirrors
Cruise control
Telephone module

All up c. £76,500.

Decided against sports chassis, even though I would like the LSD - but I have a GT3 so I want a softer car for everyday use!

Dealer (Guildford) has confirmed Dec build (delayed from Oct as per others) because of sports exhaust.

Does anyone know whether sports exhaust automatically comes with chrome tail pipes, or does this have to be specified as well?

Steve

PS I saw four 997 C2Ss at the Ring last weekend - going very well indeed in the damp conditions! They look superb in the flesh (2 were basalt black, and 2 silver).
