Pride and joy for sale

Thanks Chaps for your help,

I was considering placing an add on pistonheads. Not sure if it was a good idea.

Has anyone sold there car on pistonheads.

No, but I bought my car (which is a 997 not a 964RS) via a private add on there. I think anyone looking in the UK will check PH your problem will be timewasters etc. Good luck.

When I was selling my 2.7RS, PH was a waste of time. The specialist forum sites - including PCGB and DDK were also rather disappointing - all the enquiries were from people just wanting to know the price in order to apparently stay on top of the market.
carandclassic.co.uk was OK
ClassiceDriver.com in Europe was good (cost 30 EUR)
classiccarsforsale.co.uk was by far the best in terms of quality response
Sold it to the friend of a friend after all that! (and I bet you do in the end)

Mark, having recently sold my RS I think I am well versed in how to progress without having to deal with a load of 'pikeys'. I originally put my car up for sale on Pistonheads and had no end of bother. These cars are specialist pieces of kit and you need to use somebody who knows their onions. I sold my car (which was one of the best in the country) back to Tom Schmitz (who I bought the car off) for a suitable return. After 5 years of ownership Tom didn't view the car and the money was in my account a couple of days after the deal was struck. The nice part is that the car now resides with its third owner who I know loves the car as much as I did.
Regards
John.

Hi John,

Thank you for your advise. Will give him a call for a chat.

But you would be doing your bit to prop up the Euro! Surely that makes you feel better parting with your hard earned[:D]

I wonder if the dealer has bought it or it's SOR?

There seems to be a few cars around for sale where the dealer, effectively has a free option.......

The client is looking for £60k......dealer, suggests they should be able to quickly find a customer to pay that and maybe more.......
The car then goes on sale at an "optimistic" price......if it sells, Xmas has come early for the dealer....he pays the customer £60-62K.....

In recent times, with so few sales going on, the customers wait for their potential sale and money, where as they may have received £58k fairly quickly from a private sale.....

All hypothetical of course [8|]

But as mentioned before, with so few transactions taking place on cars of different standards, every RS car sale is hard to compare to the last.

It would be interesting to rank order dealers by number of months that a car stays on their website (on the X axis) and asking price for their cars (on the Y axis).

We would see interesting clouds in the data.

I am of course aware that the quality of a car could commend a high price, be affordable to fewer individuals and so take longer to sell.

And I am also aware that some dealers sell the nicer and so more expensive cars.

Still, it would be an interesting plot.

Phil,,,do behave.....someone would have to be certifiable to keep Excel spreadsheets, pivot charts and graphs on such data! [8D]

Tks for that Melv....I will mention that to my"friend" so that they can update the records. [:D]

p.s.

'stang looks fun!
