Problem #2148 - Car wont start.

If the cap and rotor aren't new then I would change them while you are at it. Save yourself some hassle down the line. Glad you got it sorted.

fantastic news . At least you didn't have to spend a fortune for someone to rip the car apart.

Think of all the money you've saved .[;)]

I knew it would be something simple [:D] you should treat yourself to something nice with the money you've saved and go for a blast.

Cheers fellas. Im really made up. Another plus is that the mate of a mate who popped round seems VERY knowledgable re such cars and offered to help sort out a few other issues at weekends when he's not at the garage in return for some beer tokens. He also knows an awful lot about engine mods and stuff and thinks he could sort the water leak.

I can see the money which I 'saved' today being re-allocated to other parts of the car [:D][:D][:D]

Cheers again!!!!!! [:)]

Promax do a kit including rotor, dis cap and leads. Worth it unless the other bits have been changed recently.

Good result! [:)]

ps I ordered that kit. It was going to cost me about the same price for the leads and distributor/rotor so may aswell get the beru plugs too.

I had to REALLY REALLY force myself not to add the Performance chip to the order too.

This is a slippery slope [&:] [;)]

Good stuuf as Peanut said probably something quite simple, one of my cars had a nick in the coil lead also due to the headlamp mechanism bracket new one fitted and routed out of harms way.

If you have a lux I would suggest you do exactly that

Nah, for best value on a Lux get Porscheshop to fit you one of their throttle-response cams at an open day. [:)]

+1 best value for money improvement for a Lux

ahhhh that'll do it. i just replace mine with some magnecor kv85's and they are awesome, really neat, have improved my fire up at cold amd are red (so go faster) would definately recommend

It would'nt fire up again this morning but after fiddling with the leads a bit it kicked in. Not only is there a chunk of rubber missing from the lead but there is also a scratch on the distributor where the ignition/coil lead connects to it. Apparently a spark has been arc-ing there

By the way, in answer to your earlier question, the lead between the coil and the dizzy is called the King Lead.
