Chaps, I've just received this invite to the opening of a new independant Porsche Speciaist near Newark. Most of you will know Andrew Sweetenham from his racing days in the Porsche Cup and also his postings on the forum as Sweetea. He's now branching out to offer the following services, and all are welcome to visit and look around on the open day. It's a long way from Essex but I could be tempted if we were to get up a convoy.

I know Andrew would appreciate the abuse and I feel a little obligated to go after I accused him of being tight fisted in not doing an opening do. [&o]

Ok we have about 6 possibles making a convoy up the M1 meeting at various services along the way:

Toddington @ 10:30
Rothersthorpe @ 11:00
Leicester Forest East @ 11:30

then we'll proceed up the M1 to ProMAX near Newark

The Titanic group are also adding names in a diary here: http://www.titanic.co.uk/cgi-bin/eventsdiary.py

That's a big 10-4 there Good Buddy.

Catch us on channel 5.35 on the freebie CB's.

Keep the bugs off ya glass and the bears off ya ass..... and all that pseudo American trucking stuff that we all did twenty years ago.[&o] Happy days, how time flies.

John,

I'm seriously considering it. The yellow peril will be freshly back from a mega expensive 24K service at JZM and it might provide an ideal excuse to get out of the Sunday shopping. The car's got one of Andrew's new 964 chips in (it makes a hell of a difference) and it would be nice to give him some support.

I'll probably reckon on meeting you at Rotherthorpe for 11.

Best regards

Dave

Beaky is away currently being prepared for the trip. The air con is being fixed, to ensure fast clearance of the windscreen, and the headlamps upgraded as, from what I understand, it's dark 24 hrs a day at this time of year once you go north of Birmingham. [:D]

My mobile number is 07 88 77 91 91 3 for those craving personal contact on the day.

Don't worry folks.

For all those intimidated by Johns strange lingo and behaviour [&:] this is a false meeting post purely for John [:-]

You should all have your private email with the true meeting place by now [;)][:D][:D]

I've just read that Andrew and David at ProMAX should have a couple of interesting engines on display for us:

A 3.2 Carrera being rebuilt and a 944 Turbo being converted to a 3 litre monster [8D]

I spoke to Andrew today (more later [;)]) and he believes there should be approx 20 of us at one time or another. There will be six of us in our little convoy going up the M1 and we should be there approx 12 noon.

Anyway it seems my S2 'may' already be there on Sunday. She decided to fail her MOT today with unbalanced front braking effort. I whipped the wheels off and pads out back at home and sure enough the calliper plates have lifted cauisng two pads to be seized. ProMax will be taking a look on Friday with a few other things, which means I'll possibly be the first to try out their new 924S courtesy car. I've never driven a 924 and must admit I'm looking forward to it, especially as it has the 2.5 944 engine in it [:D]

You'll be able to go through those width restriction bollards without lifting [:D]

It should be a good day with plenty of cars to poke and tyres to kick.

Slight change of plan. I'll be going up in the wide hipped S2 and coming back in Andrews svelte bottomed 924S. It'll be like a day at a health camp, only with cars [&:].

See you at M1 Jct15a services at 11:00

Cool, this is where you are all hiding! When the rain comes down we gardeners get to play with the settings on Norton, then give up and disable it....

Looking forward to buying everyone a bacon roll at Toddington on the way!

Hi Paul,

You found us then [;)]. Welcome to the forum. I am very much looking forward to enjoying your wit and comment now in colour. [:D].

We should have a reasonable gang for the first section as I understand Mr Cannell will also be joining us.

Now do I bother washing Beaky or just assume the weather is going to be pants and leave him as he is?

Welcome Paul. I don't know why so many Titanic people have problems getting in the forum, my Norton let me straight in?

I've just this afternoon cleaned a weeks motorway gunge off the S2 and have now tucked it up in the garage (but I know Debbie will take it out tomorrow while I'm at work in the Turbo [8|] ).

It looks like we have quite a convoy gathering at Jct15A, most of us are just going for the grand opening (and snacks) but I do know that one of our number will be spending many thousands on go faster goodies [;)]

Wish i could make it but got lots of things to do before I head off to the south atlantic on wednesday. [:(]
