Proper 924 Turbo badge panel for 944S2 or Turbo

That's what put me off as well. I'm not convinced that it does.

If you really wanted to know, you could drop Marek an email through the website. His English is very good.

Now a 924 turbo badge panel is one bodywork mod that I think looks REALLY good.

I could be quite tempted by this ...

Why not just get grilles that are a standard, easily available, type and have the existing panel cut to fit? I really don't like the badly-fitting 924 part, having it done well looks much better to me, and IMO it suits the later cars to have less vents anyway.

Teiliecar make different versions of the old-style vented badge panel"”one to fit 924s, one to fit 944s, and a third to fit 944 Turbos and S2s.

I understand that they make one that fits the later cars, I just think that the 4 vents look a bit dated compared to a smoother single vent, or two as in the pic. I can't see it costing more to have done, the panel's got to be fitted and painted anyway, and I thought the 924 plastic grills were obsolete?

Didn't Fen take a dremel to his badge panel to cut the holes himself?

Anyone have any idea what grilles are readily-available, suitable and not too expensive? If you cut the panel you'll need to either arrange a curve on the cut edge, running back into the hole, or the grille will need to to clip around the edge of the hole, and have something showing on the front of the panel.

Here's a few that I've found:

Lindsey Racing do one that has a sort of upward bulge (not sure I like this one, but it's designed to fit a bigger intercooler). Link

No idea where this one's from, the car's Swedish.

All Porsche Racing do a nice looking one, similar to what Paul posted. Link

This one's from Automotion; looks nice. Link

There are people doing these in the UK, too. Design 911 sell this one, but it looks like the Lindsey Racing part to me. Link

Here's the Teilecar one that started this thread off. Link

Teilecar also do a single-vent version, but it incorporates a headlight delete, so is for race cars only.

Deutsche Nine used to sell one that looked really nice, but I can't find it for sale any more.

GT Racing do a few options. Their catalogue is only online as a PDF to download: PDF link.

I have a suggestion.

I had a quick chat with Simon at SAR Classics about this. They're specialising more and more in body restoration and modification work on older Porsches, and already manufacture or supply a lot of fibreglass parts.

SAR would be able to manufacture a vented badge panel to our own specification/design for around £160 per unit, based on a minimum order of six or so.

If anyone's serious about wanting one of these, we could have a nicely produced part designed just the way we want it"”so long as we all agree on the vent shape etc.

Shame I'm gonna be away for a while otherwise I'd offer to match that deal myself (maybe even slightly better) and can do the prototype work on my own car. I will make one myself at some point, may be able to be persuaded to have a go before I leave to travel.

If we had a little poll, what are people's preferences from the above shots ? Myself, I prefer this :

or this (but shaped to fit the existing pop up headlamps) :

So guys, what are your thoughts ?

My vote would be for the example with the single opening and rounded ends, but not central section and no buldge like on the striped car above...

This one looks absolutely amazing in the flesh. I wonder if anyone got a better picture of it to show. This is the nicest badge panel modification I've seen.

Hah, now he's criticising my photography as well! [:D][:D]

Actually this isn't my pic. I think the car was at the Newark launch, all those years ago, so Rick would have a pic on his site. I don't have time to search the millions of pics on there, though, as I've probably only got a few decades of life left....[&o]
