Now that my car is not for sale anymore (I decided to keep it in the end), you might be interested in a couple of alternatives [;)]

Freisinger has three for sale: http://www.freisinger-motorsport.de/

This one does not look like it is particularly original!
http://www.octane-magazine.com/front_website/octane_interact/carsforsale.php?seecarsforsale=6132

This one has an interesting racing history.

Well, if you search the web, you will find that the same car is

"cheap"

or "more expensive"

[:D]

And for the price of a new kettle .... buy it someone .... and Phil has seen the Leichtbau Light of divine and true enlightenment ... [:D]

by the time import tax and vat is paid the "cheap" price gets close to the "expensive" price[:D]
Interesting what price race history has, as much as 100k according to Freisinger. 3.8's have always been expensive in comparison to the 3.6 and cups but now they have gone way above just expensive .
Having the pleasure of being driven round Spa by both Phil and Ben in their cars however, i can see what all the fuss is about!

Just had a scan through those links (again!). I have got to say that the 964 3.8 RSR is in my opinion, THE best looking Porsche ever made. Do not ever sell the car Phillipe and please take me out for a few px laps if I ever bump into you at a track day.
These cars are unfortunately out of my price range, however I often consider the possibility of cashing in the RS ( dare I say that?) and having a wide body replica produced using either a Turbo or a Celebration model. Anyone else had such fantasies?[8|]

Edited to add that I even think they look better than a GT2 R (993)!

Wish you hadn't shown me that one Jamie![:(] Love the colour as well! Certainly is a "BAD BOY" !!!

I think carreraboy came close to buyng the yellow one, before he got his mint fixation....could have been interesting, certainly an event to drive!

The american rsr needs or did need a total running gear refurb, plenty of war wounds from its racing past, which is all ok at the right price.
The engine and box, diff etc all wanted rebuilding at the time i inspected the car about 2 years ago,and has been for sale for some 3 years.
The real spa winner is now for sale, not cheap, but race history is all in cars such as these,as mr freisinger knows only to well.
You should see the condition of the rsr that we recently purchased and sold on,only because to me it was to nice to race, good thing is its staying in the uk,owned by another petrol head and the car should be road legal any time soon.
Great cars and a wise buy.

Would be happy to. Just join us @ Spa for the PCF Days next year!

In the meantime, enjoy the usual teaser [;)]

I love the car and have grown into it after owning two 964 RSs and other 911s. The problem for me is the tension between the capital that an RSR now represents and the risks involved in driving it on the track (a race car cannot be insured for trackdays!!!).

For comparison, a 996 GT3 RS (I mean the real race car) has a lot more power, is *much* faster around a track and is worth less than half a 964 RSR.

But then I am told (by people who have raced and developed them) that while 996 GT3 RS race cars are quick, one does not get the same sense of driving involvement than, say in a 964 RSR, 964 RS, or 993 RS Clubsport. 996 GT3 RSs would be quite difficult to "feel"... Strange...

Others say that 996 race cars running costs are very high and that one needs a team of mechanics to support the car at track days... Again, I do not know, but if anyone can comment, I'd like to know.

I read the article in Total 911, saw the pictures, and was very much impressed with this car! It does look mint.

So, besides yours, the yellow RSR and Ben's, is there any other "un-raced" RSRs in the total of ~50 race cars?

Now that I have read your comments about insurance and the like, I can see why you may have considered selling the car. I suppose you have just got to try and enjoy the car and try not to let such "worries" spoil your fun. It's a tricky one isn't it.

Thank you for the offer of the px laps Phil. Hopefully next year I may be able to find time to travel over to Spa with Des and all the crew!

Regards, Matt.

So how does it compare to a narrow bodied RS? Does it feel much quicker? Does it feel much heavier and so on...? Would love to hear your comments.[:)]
