Quiet in R20

ORIGINAL: t1x

Hello.

I just wanted to ask - I have just joined PCGB and live in Wembley (Looking forward to Ace as its down the road)

Do you know which Region I would be put in? Thames Valley or London.

Just curious.

Could be (But no means guaranteed) :

R19 - Thames Valley
R20 - London
R29 - Surrey

You can request to move regions I believe, see where you end up first.

I suppose it all depends where most of the action is!!

Are you going to Ace?

Too early to say as it's the Bank Holiday .... probably next meeting is Fatboys this Saturday.

Apparently it did have the most members ... and its postcode range for new members was changed to balance things out. Trouble is we were originally put into R19 - Thames Valley ... almost as quiet and further to travel for us. R20 is more local.

London Region is just roughly inside North - South Circular and majority of the members are in Knightsbridge, Chelsea, etc who would just like the monthly magazine and nothing else... have been trying for years to try and get it back to what it originally was or at least have the boroughs voting in the London Mayoral election to be recognised as London but no luck... Boroughs like Harrow, Wembley, Ealing, Bromley, Croydon, Kingston, etc not recognised as London region :-(

>and its postcode range for new members was changed to balance things out.

...it wasn't to balance things out, it was well before my time and have heard several versions. Paul Kelly had managed to get Richmond postcodes recognised back as London but that is as far as it got. Now it seems to be down as, 'if they are restored then other neighbouring regions will have reduced membership...' The last time I check Thames Valley was the largest region by number as whole of West London (all the out to Reading) comes under it...

...it just means the most active members (i.e. boroughs immediately around the outside of North-South circular) don't come to the London events and I have no means to contact them as the details are passed on to other Region Orgainsers... Now in discussion with the new Regional director to see if can make some sense of a decision someone on the board made several years ago...

Thanks for the clarity, the forum and the magazine would work as a method of contacting those members out in the 'London suburbs' disenfranchised into those 'other' regions.

I did manage to change my region, indeed anyone can do it 'allegedly' via the members details page here:

I am in London (N14) but was assigned Region 21 - Chilterns (I think).

It still hasn't stopped me attending the Ace Cafe events Kish organises [:)]

I plan to go to Ace anyway, whether its my region or not.

Whats the normal turnout like then?

I previously had a 5 series and the turnout was always good at meets - 20-30 cars.

Anyway thanks for clearing things up.......I think [8|]

I will have to wait and see where I get allocated.............

I'll definitely try and get to a Fat boys meet soon, its local for me as I'm in Docklands but I spend most weekends out of London. I can't make this Saturday unfortunately! Never been to the ACE cafe so will try and pop along to one of those too.

Good afternoon
On Sunday 07/08/2011 we, being myself and my friend James, are putting on a charity drive in aid of the Sussex air ambulance.
We are setting off from Shoreham Airport to The Lavender Line steam railway near Uckfield. The route is around 50 miles via mainly B roads. None of the route is too hard, steep, narrow or complicated.
The fee is a minimum donation of £10 with all monies going to the air ambulance which doesn't receive any funding from the nhs or lottery
At the finish there will be a raffle, BBQ and steam train rides
We are hoping for 150 cars of all types shapes and sizes
You will all be most welcome
Search on facebook for "the Sussex air ambulance charity summer drive"
Alternatively email me: richardrover@hotmail.com

Thanks for reading

Richard

So do you guys think we should combine regions and make it more social? what do you think organisers? I have yet to go to a meet in this forum.

ORIGINAL: carreraboy

think Scotland wales and Ireland should be independent of the Club and Isle of Wight

.... not forgetting Jersey and soon to be 20 mph max speed limit Guernsey.

Des, maybe there should be a new region, 'Isle of Dogs and Spa' that only owners with cars painted orange can join!! [:D]

Welcome new R20er's, so far you have missed a weekend in Wales (we drove the Evo mag's famous triangle) several ACE and Goodwood meets, and in 2 weeks time Le Mans.

Unfortunately a lot of this is organised off forum by a renegade few of us as nothing is organised officially although the other regions seem to be able to do, ours seem to be in a coma!

Hopefully see you soon at the ACE

Not much good organising stuff which members don't know about - defeats the object of being a club [8|]

Unfortunately Its a case of organise yourselves otherwise nothing gets done.....................and the word does get around!

Anything you give me well in time and want it to be a region event will get into my monthly report! So for example the deadline for July events (my Porsche Post report) is tomorrow!

Haven't had a single email from you about your events? End of 2010 had posted if people want their events listed or help in organising events only got one response of interest about a Swiss trip but that has gone cold... Brooklands was a major success and minimal upfront cost but overseas trips, etc it very high risk when no one is interested or those interested do not read the regional reports...

There is always interest in a Swiss Trip and given the post in the PP earlier this year we thought this was more solid rather, than as it would appear, just an idea.
