Hello. Can only say how upset I am. Turn up at the s/s early. With more members of the club with me. Only for us both not to be spoken to. We walk over as you put your go pro cam on your cars. No map give out no hello nothing. We walk back to the cars to drive over to you. Only for you to drive off!! Thought it was a club where people/members joined in. Never felt so unwelcome in all my life. How rude !!! If putting cameras on your cars is more important than talking to members. Getting people to join in. What sort of group is this ? My first drive out with the club. My first meeting with the club. Has been unreal. Can not believe a club like this would be so rude unfriendly. Lost for worlds. Get up early on a Sunday morning to join in. What’s the point ??? How rude is the only words I can think off. 4 very upset members. !!!!!

Hi Stewart - not wanting to start a debate but today was our first meeting with this group too and our experience couldn’t be much more different! We arrived at the parking lot and parked close to a bunch of Porsche’s - not knowing anyone my wife and I just stood by our car and smiled at anyone standing next to a Porsche ... most of the Porsche’s were together in one area - we did notice a Macan and a 911 parked well away from everyone else but didn’t think either was black (your car looks black unless it has changed). With Smiles and comments such as ‘nice car .. you with region 10‘ we were very quickly greeted and names and car stories exchanged. Organisers noted the two Porsche’s parked away from us and did go across but no- one was with them. I know that after around 15 minutes everyone went to their cars to leave but even then it took quite a while to safely get six Porsche’s out of the car park - at least five minutes after walking talkies had been tested and Gopro cameras adjusted - it was hardly a rapid getaway!
As for the drive itself - despite this being our first meeting and not knowing anyone we were given a route map and a walker talkie! (Wendy secretly loved being in control of the ‘communications’ and being able to boss me around following radioed suggestions - turn right, not left, forget the Satnav etc etc). I must admit to having trepidation with regard to driving in a convoy - especially as my aged 4S sat behind a very shiny looking GT3 and we had just had a small ‘incident’ with an impatient A6 driver which had damaged our car - but the drive was fantastic, despite the rain. Enough very mildly ‘aggressive’ driving to keep it interesting but at no time being silly or unsafe or license threatening, not certain my passenger would agree though. I have to admit that being a passenger in my 4S with it in full Sports mode on pot- holed country roads is not the most comfortable place to be! We weren't the only first timers in convoy and there was constant attentive communication between cars via the walker talkies to ensure that no-one got left behind.
So ... not trying to criticise you or defend a Regional Group that I have driven with today for the first time but; our experience was vastly different from yours - and talking to the other ‘newbies’ they really enjoyed it too. Can I suggest that you give these guys another try? Perhaps you might like my telephone number so that next time you can text/call me (07977 561283. José and Wendy) so that we can meet up early? I’m off to Silverstone this Tuesday afternoon, going to DasFuer next Sunday and the next Regional meeting in April if you want to join another ‘newbie’ For any of those events? José and Wendy.

Hi, sorry to hear that, that’s not our intention for any members. I can only firstly speak for our self’s, that we arrived about 20 minutes before departing. We went over to the group standing outside, and said hello to the group, some familiar faces, some new. We all chatted with each other and all of us offered our extra radios to the newer members so we tried our best to include and welcome anyone new, as they gave equal effort to introduce themselves. Mark even went inside to make sure we hadn’t missed anyone. I would encourage you to come over and introduce yourself to any member, as we were there for a reasonable amount of time before leaving for the drive. Speaking to the others they were not aware there was anyone else with our group, as you didn’t make yourself known to anybody that we were with at least. Our club is known for its hospitality as other region members have joined our club due to this. We hope this hasn’t put you off coming again, we don’t want anyone to feel unwelcome, so please feel free to join in as much as you’d like. We look forward to hopefully meeting you soon.

Kind regards

Howard and Joanne

Thanks for the replys. I did come over. I did to talk. But was more interested in putting the go pro camera on the cars. Two cars had them on. Then lift there heads up to say hello. When someone is talking to you. To me that’s just rude. Never felt so uncomfortable and lift out in all my life. Walk over to get my car and you all drive off. Not just myself here. There was 4 new members all together. Two in each car. Not a great way to start. Your first meeting. And to be honest I think it will be my last. In my eyes a club/ team should welcome people. Not be more interested in a go Pro camera. Rude is the only word I can think off

Dear Stewart,

Apologies for not replying myself sooner, but I have only just returned home to be able to do so.

However upset you are, please don’t think that our members are an unfriendly bunch. We had other new members attending today, and they were welcomed very much into our fold and had a great day.

If the blame lies in anyone’s hands, it is mine. I arrived later than anticipated dealing with calls and texts this morning from three couples who cancelled last minute.

Consequently, I had less time to complete the getaway, and to identify who was there. I did not know who you were, and indeed as nobody from R10 had yet met "Stewart” who I was asking them about, I did go looking for you inside the cafe before we left.

I truly thought you were a no-show, and given I had already had 9 out of 18 cars pull out in the last couple of days, many as a result of the virus issue, I was not surprised to find 2 other cars missing.

I fully understand your frustration and anger, and apologise again.

If you can bring yourself back from your current view and attend other events, I am sure you will enjoy the company of so many R10 members and a happy PCGB existence.

Please, on that occasion, introduce yourself to me - you had my name today, and had you asked who I was, and approached me, this embarrassing issue would not have arisen.

Kind regards.
Mark

Thanks for the replys. Looking back and thinking. Maybe I should have pushed a bit more when trying to talk to you (all) it’s a two way street as they say. I came back home upset is the only pol way to put it. And posted/emailed this. Two wrongs do not make a right. we try again. next time . Thanks anyway

Thanks for a great day everyone.
Wendy and I thoroughly enjoyed our first drive .... Wendy may not be keen to experience the 'shake, rattle and roll' of a 911 in sport mode on pot-hole roads or the constant acceleration and braking of her 'little boy in his noddy car' (can't see why not) but she rather liked the walkie talkies - so much so that she informs me Amazon sell them. Something about them potentially being useful for spare room / snoring and garden and isolation .....?
Sorry didn't say goodbye to everyone in person ... but as the heavens opened we decided to beat a hasty retreat after devouring our sausage and mash. Looking forward to the next drive. If anyone is going to Silverstone on Tuesday please let me know - I can't get there till the afternoon. Likewise DasFuer (is that the spelling) next Sunday so long as it is still going ahead?
As it was a topic today ... On the way back we were informed that Deniz (our daughter) has been placed in isolation by her University and was just moved to a new room ... she knows of at least 4 in her college with confirmed C-19 so whilst the press may speak of only 6 cases- the reality is far, far greater. Play safe people.
Thanks again,
Jose and Wendy

Hey Stewart - understand your disappointment with today - it could have been worse though ... we had a mild 'interaction' with an A6 on route to the sausage (no fault of ours) which is going to result in a little bit of body work and paint needing to be done and we only just had it ceramic'd...... Give me a call if you want to meet up on route to one of the events and honestly - they are a nice bunch.
Jose and Wendy
