R10 Show & Shine 2015 at Elite Motors Bodyshop - Sat 29th Aug 2015
Our Show and Shine event this year will be held at Elite Motors Bodyshop, Northampton, who are Porsche approved body specialists with a proven track record of exemplary work in renovation and repair of all older and new Porsches. Amongst many other projects last year, they restored a 924 Carrera GT to prime condition for the Silverstone OPC entry of the Porsche Cars GB national renovation competition.
As they are Porsche Approved (or an RiR - Recommended Independent Repairer, as they are catchingly called now[8|]), they are looking forward to showing us round their place.
At the moment it’s going to be: we’ll start from around 10am, complete judging by 12.30-ish and the awards will come along at 2pm-ish... I’m still discussing things with Elite so this may change, but forms the basis of the day.
The day will be kept very relaxed, informal and this year we have decided that the judging will be done by: YOU!
Everyone will receive the means to vote on one car for each of the three categories: Best Aircooled, Best Early Watercooled and Best Late Watercooled. You’ll also be able to vote on what you think is the very best of the collection of cars entered. Refreshment will be available throughout as usual. So we will end up with cars which have been voted by their peers - the three classes will each receive a certificate and hopefully some other prize, and the Overall Winner will take home The Martin O’Kane Award to treasure for one year (to be returned in 2016), having their winning name engraved on the reverse of the award.
The award is in memory of Martin’s enthusiasm and the fine way he kept his car - a lovely 964.
So come one and all, and have a fun day out with fellow Porsche members and show and shine your car(s) to your heart's content!
Just tell us you’re coming, you’ll probably each get a number on arrival, and then just vote for your faves (not your own car though, that would be "cheating”[][])
We’re keeping it simple this year - if you’re interested, post here or contact me on r10@porscheclubgb.com []
