R10 Weekend Trip

Hi Everyone

It was good to see so many R10'ers brave the wet and windy weather to make it to the monthly meeting today [:)]

As discussed, I agreed to take the lead on organising a weekend trip away this summer.

To get us started, I suggest either 29/30 June or 6/7 July and either North Wales or the Peak District.

If you are interested, please let me know which of the dates would work for you and your preferred destination, and I will look for hotels and driving routes.

All the best,

Ravi

Hi Ravi
On the 30th of June (Sunday) there is the annual porsche pageant at Chatsworth, so we could use this event for our final destination of the weekend?
Just a thought but both weekends will be fine with us.
Regards Andy

Thanks, Ravi - it's a great opportunity for us all to have a good time together in our cars!
Your experience of the previous region excursion will be invaluable.

My preference is the Peak District, as you have suggested.

As Andy says, I also think the Porsche Pageant at Chatsworth would be a marvellous focus to be taken in on this WOTY.
This would make sense for the 29/30 June (both weekend dates are good for me/us).

Come on R10'ers, get your names on this list now...[:)][;)]

If you decide on the Peak District we took our region there last year; we have some proven route maps and can recommend a great (very Porsche friendly) hotel in the area.

Thanks, Nick - I'd be very interested in this - would you mind sending some info to me at r10@porscheclubgb.com and (if the personal mail is working now) to Ravi as well?
Cheers[:D]

Fantastic!

Thanks all for the replies so far. Looking like the Peak District on the 29/30th is the favoured option with the Porsche Pageant at Chatsworth a fitting destination on the Sunday.

Nick - yes, would really appreciate getting the route info, thanks [:)]

I will start looking at hotel options.

Now we just need some more R10'ers to sign up [:D]

Ravi

Sadly have to skip - got a house full for the GP at sunny Silverstone.

Understandably.[8D][:)] (PS not sure how I did it, but managed to edit your post by mistake).[8|])

By strange coincidence, both weekends are currently free for me, so count me as a possible.

Chris.

Hi Ravi
Count me as a possible at this stage. I'm planning to join the chatsworth event on the sunday.
Let me know when you have hotel / route details. Manjit

Hi Ravi

Caroline and I should be available for the weekend of the 29/30th June, so please add us to the provisional list.

Peter

Hi All

Great to see so many interested in the trip [:)]

Work travel has got in the way of me making progress beyond finding a short list of hotels but I will be checking out a few more online and will circulate a proposed route, agenda and hotel options over the next week or so.

All the best,

Ravi

Great to see so many interested in the trip

Definitely.

You're on the list Bob (talk her into it)...
Ravi, I didn't get the info from Nick either - we have a possible 13 on the list so far[:)]

Hi all

I've reviewed a few hotels and found one that seems to fit the bill.

It's the Hollin Hall Hotel, Jackson Lane near Macclesfield, SK10 5BG. Description from Booking.com below...

Set in elegant landscaped grounds, Hollin Hall is a charming 19th-century Victorian country house in the beautiful Cheshire countryside. It offers rooms with free Wi-Fi, 12 miles from Manchester International Airport.

The hotel has excellent leisure facilities, including a fitness suite and a wide range of equipment that is free for guests to use. Heaven Spa offers a range of beauty treatments.

Guests can enjoy an à la carte menu at The Ridge Restaurant, created by its award-winning chef with fresh, locally sourced produce and a daily market menu.

Set in 4 acres of picturesque gardens, the hotel has elegant interiors, a highly elaborate hall and an oak stairwell with a glass dome. Hollin Hall is in the foothills of the Peak District, near Manchester city centre.

Local attractions include The National Trust's Lyme Park, which can be reached in 20 minutes by car. Tatton Park is a 40-minute drive from the building.

Room rates are between 85-100 for doubles.

If no-one has any objections and given that we can be flexible on the route AND that hotel rooms appear to be going fast that weekend, I suggest anyone interested in the trip makes a provisional booking (look for the options with free cancellation on Booking.com) to secure a room and let us know via the forum so we can confirm numbers.

This way, we at least have accommodation in place and can change arrangements at a later date if necessary.

Cheers,

Ravi
