R18 Concours 2013

Hello All,

This year's concours will not be a separate event. R18 Street Class Concours event will be held on Sunday 11th August in conjunction with the German Classics Car Show at Haigh Hall Wigan.

The judging will be a 'locked car' concours so that owners will not have to stay with their cars. In fact I have 'secret judges' who will be judging the cars. These judges are not members of R18 and their identities will not be disclosed, either now or in the future. (So if this format is a success it can be used again).

All cars will be included in the concours unless the owner specifically asks not to be included. However excluded owners will not be asked to vote in the Competitors' Favourite.

So this year there are two chances of a First Prize, so even the 'Colgate Kid' will have a fighting chance of improving on his previous dire performance in this once a year event.

So, get the Fairy Liquid, the Brasso, the Cillit Bang and the 'El Cheapo' car polish from Aldi out and get cleaning those cars.

Cheers,

Your Friendly Charm School Host.

Hi Fred i will be there ive got to defend my title against Team Mangetout, Jamie's got a chance of stealing it from me with his new wheels[:D]

He'll be a newlywed by then and have far more important things to do with his hands than wash his car! [:D]

Level playing field this year as no-one knows who to bribe to gain that valuable extra point. However, if anyone wishes to donate to my favourite charity 'Fill Fred's Petrol Tanks Up for Christmas' I can let them have my PayPal address, these donations will of course be treated in the strictest confidence.
Cars newer than 2009 carry a thirty pound (oops sorry, thirty point) penalty.

Cheers,

I'd prefer 1st. You best make the Team Mangetout bung a good one this year.

I am quietly amused by the concept of the invisible man secretly judging.

Anyone not from R18 taking an interest in the alignment of my wheel centre crests and locking wheel nut will be treated with respect and caution...

Rob, PCGB is made up of quite a few regions so the wheel crest alignment is not privy to R18 alone.

Secret judges, I don't wish to comment on the gender makeup nor how many there are. At least you are 'quietly amused', don't want the other people in your office thinking 'Oh my god the boss has lost it again, you would think at his age he would have more self control!'

After the laps around Anglesey in your Spyder 1st place is looking good, unfortunately it isn't up to me.

Zeb - 2nd - PMF! (There is no second - anyway who remembers the person that comes second?)

Cheers,

I heard that ladies much prefer it when Zeb does this.

Just to let you know there are only 15 more polishing days to Concours. On a more festive note there are only 150 more shopping days to Christmas. So after the Concours you still have 135 days to do your shopping (or drop hints as to what you would like someone to buy you).

You will have two chances to win, firstly the actual concours winner and secondly the competitors' favourite. The concours winner will be excluded from the favourite competition.

Cheers,

Jeremy ive got my work cut out this time around i think it would be easier to bye a new Porsche, And trailer it straight from the showroom [:)]

Looks way too good for R18 concours. Hope the drive down doesn't spoil it too much. Zeb and Jamie may pay you not to turn up [:D]

As regards to tyres, all entrants receive five points for each tyre they have in the correct location and touching the floor.

Just to put the record straight - Rob's Spyder lost points because he had not prepared the car himself, sadly neither had anyone else prepared it. It is a credit to him now, shows what a bit of elbow grease and hard work can do.

Cheers,
