R7 Club Night BBQ - Sold out

A big thank you to Mark and Carol for yet another excellent hosted BBQ at their home.

Great night, great people, great cars..... Another big thank you to Mark and Carol for yet another excellent club BBQ. Sorry to hear about the splitter (literaly heard it mate as you were leaving OUCH!).... I've heard that Porsche have designed it to be a consumable part so fingers crossed, they are meant to be easy to swap out.

Yeh didn't think it would ground out - again!!! I've been so careful with it and done it 3 times so far.....It's completely pot luck sometimes.....

...… it is a 'consumable' part and only has 2 hex bolts and a clips. I'm going to buy another purely to swap out for shows etc.

A great night and great people -I'm still buzzing.

Mike, if it's any consolation, the front splitter on my Spyder is also badly scuffed. I've caught it many times including driving on/off ferries and once pulled part of it off when reversing up our gravel drive at home. Had to clear out the gravel before I could clip it back on! Luckily the damage is invisible unless you lay on the ground in front of it and, as you say, it's a consumable item, so nothing to worry about really.

Yes that’s a fair point Ian.

As I said it wasn’t the 1st time, as the 1st is, and was, the most upsetting, but me being me I’m going to get a spare one 😉

On a completely different note what wheel cleaner do you favour on the Spider Ian, as I guess the finish on those rims are similar to mine? On the inside of the rims of mine there is some ‘white’ contamination I’m keen to try to clean off so keen for pointers from fellow owners.

Thanks,

Mike

I don't use a specific wheel cleaner, Mike, I clean the wheel with a paint cleanser such as Swissvax or Victoria Wax cleaner and use a wheel wax (recently Poorboys or Chemical Guys wheel wax (I can't remember which without going out to the garage to look), although I'm running out of that so might be trying an alternative). Then I just wash the wheels with shampoo and water and wipe them over with a detailing spray. Seems to work for me. Can't speculate about the white contamination on your wheels but perhaps you should remove the wheels for cleaning / waxing to remove it - that's something I also do once or twice a year.

Ok Ian thanks for coming back to me.

Normally I follow a similar routine, but I need to work out what the ‘white’ contamination is, get it cleaned off then follow the standard routine we both seem to adopt.

Just back from the PCGB Sportscar Day at Silverstone which unfortunately was a little underwhelmin. Here’s hoping the similar event at JCT tomorrow is better.

Is it yourself that’s heading off to Stuttgar?

Hi Mike

Good to meet you both on Wednesday.

We use Viro-sol on our wheels, it's a ph neutral citrus based de-greasing cleaner, good for stubborn dirt on wheels and also useful around the house. We buy ours online, a 5 litre carton lasts donkeys years as you only use it in diluted form.

We're legging it down to Stuttgart on Sunday when we get off the ferry in Rotterdam, hoping to catch the museum before it shuts at 6...let's hope the autobahn traffic makes way for us!

Michael & Lisa

Thanks for letting me know on the cleaner I’ll investigate that one.

Good luck on the road trip, sounds fun, fingers crossed for the traffic for you.

Stay safe.

Mike and Ellie
