R8 after Christmas winter/spring shoot?

I've read a few Porsche Posts now and notice some of the other regions have organised clay pigeon shooting events which seem to have been a sucess.. I was wondering whether there would be any interest in an R8 clay shoot?

I used to shoot quite a bit (don't worry, Im no good) and thought about maybe trying to organise an R8 do sometime in the spring. I used to shoot at Kibworth shooting ground between Leicester and Market Harborough on the A6 (or maybe A5; Im not very good with road names). I would recommend this as the location unless someone has a better sugestion.. The facilities are good (for a shooting ground), the staff are great, and they have a nice big carpark away from the falling birds!

There wouldn't be any participation requirements that I can think of; the shooting ground deal with beginners, corporate do's, and are even host to a lot of disabled shooting days, so are wheelchair accessible too if needs be..

If anyone is interested please post below; I will take a look into it once I have an idea of numbers, or go on my own if there is no interest!..

Thanks to Ben for attempting this. I notice another Region cancelled because of lack of interest. Please support this effort, I will be taking part but again I have not shot for some time and let my Gun Licence lapse. RO

I'd be up for that - only done it a couple of times, but it is fun

Do you have a provisional date for it yet?

cheers

Pete

no what I will probably do is get a list of people who are interested and propose a few dates and see who can make what.. I will also have to discuss with Kibworth as they host national and regional shoots over weekends.. obviously evenings will be out although the do have dusk sessions during the summer, and Im guessing to maximise availability we ought to do it at a weekend.. I have holiday I can take for something like this but I understand others are bounded by school holidays, etc.!..

Ill leave it a week or so and then start thinking about dates; Im guessing xmas period is busy for almost everyone so will aim for feb or march as a general guide line; sometimes winter is better than spring for shooting so as to avoid possible rain!

R9's John has done a fair few shoots, I believe he knows quite a few members who would possibly take part...

Myself and my wife would certainly be interested..

I'm interested - used to shoot occasionally - but that was back in the 90's [8|]. Deciding factor likely to be dates/times.

Cheers, and good luck getting enough interested.

I'd be interested depending on where, when, how much.

Did it at a Center Parcs a few years ago and was a laugh- shoulder hurt the day after mind you [&:]

From what i remember of it. Doveridge sporting club at Doveridge is a good clay pigeon shoot. I remember it makes good use of the surrounding countryside with a lot of different scenarios to give the feel that you are shooting live birds

Just a suggestion. Might be up for this though

I heard back from Kibworth today; around £40 a head, with a £10p/h deposit required on booking. This would consist a minimum 25 clays per person with gun hire, PPE, cartridges, etc. included, and either 1 or 2 instructors (depending on if we have 0-8 or 8-16 people). After that we could add some shooting at their standard rates, which is (from memory) around £8 for 25 clays and cartridges on skeet, or if people are feeling more adventurous probably around 12-15 quid for 50 sporting and cartridges

I spoke to Doveridge on the phone, cost was £45 a head for 50 clays/cartridges including tuition. They are shut mon/tues, but I have no more information on availability, booking, etc., as I got cut off!.. I will give them a call back later on or tomorrow for some more information

sorry, ive been a bit lazy over xmas with this one..
Im now going to be away at the end of jan, and may be in europe with work begining of feb, so Im going to tentatively sugest 22 March.. If anyone has any other dates they would like to throw out there please let me know; Im not sure I will be able to do anything before late feb, so if we can make it after please.. [:D]
Also I think putting it a couple of months out should give us time to advertise it in porsche post for those without internet access?.. Not sure what Patrick's view is on this; do we want to confirm a date first?..
