RAS Meet ?

Hi Mark,

Looks like a really good turnout, although as usual there are plenty of people not 100% committed. Makes it difficult to organise! [&o]

Anyone who's not let me know a definite, could you e-mail me or call? I guess on the day we'll offer space in the workshop to anyone who wants to get their car on a lift and inspected for free, and there will be the usual pub debrief afterwards. [;)]

Hi Paul,

I am a definite at this stage to come down for a look see. Is there a running sheet for the day? Just wondering if the 9am is an indicative time or whether I will miss things if I am running a tad late.

See you then.

Last calls, we'll be there from 9 am until approx 1 pm, when there will be a debrief. Hopefully inolving pies of some sort. [:)]

Paul, sorry Paul & I won't be there. Will catch up with you at some event though.

Seemed a very manageable and well run morning+ Arrived late to escort Paul &Co to a sunny beer garden "which could make a future venue" ...... [:)]

Any Pictures?

I thought it was really good. Great day for a drive and to meet some of the other 944 diehards.

I will attach a few photos...I only took 78!!!

Paul - if you are after any photos I could email you a few.

Andrew,

Great photo! Do post some more of those 78!

Good to meet you. And good to meet everyone else as well. I didn't catch the names of everyone, so can't put them to faces - apologies. However, thanks to Des for organising a top day and thanks to everyone who turned up for making it the event that it was. I'm genuinely sorry I could only stick around for an hour or so (although, as McNulters said, I definitely wasn't there!)

Thanks also to RAS, who seemed like a good bunch of chaps. I appreciate that today was a bit of an attempt to drum up some business from the 944 community, and I will certainly be bearing them in mind next time I have some work that I need done on my car. Adam, thanks for your knowledgable input and I hope you get your Turbo back on the road shortly. Thanks also to the other guys who were working on the cars - I didn't get the name of the guy who worked on mine, but thanks to him for his time and the care he took in doing the work. It was noticed, and appreciated.

Oli.

It was a really nice day. Great to meet some new people and to put faces to some of the folk on here as well. I thought the RAS guys were knowledgable and helpful and certainly worth a try for anyone in those parts who need some work doing. Just a couple of quick pics from me. Andrew, your best bet may be to upload your pics onto Photobucket and then use the image button to link them here (use the "direct link" option on the photobucket site. You can then post multiple pics.

Thanks to all who came, even Oli, who'd been an absolute definite "no". [:D]

I was seriously impressed by the way the guys went over the cars and did quite a lot of work for nothing. Better than some open days where they merely measure your tread-depth and then try to sell you something. Genuine enthusiasts, and it was good to see Adam's Turbo missing it's front end after a wet track-day at Brands. He obviously really tries!

Looking forward to the big one at Porscheshop next month. Please make the effort to be there, it's great fun and the indies won't put these events on if they aren't well-attended.

They are a fairly young company, Adam probably the most polite and genuine young Mechanic (PhD) I have met. He is a serious University Grease Monkey. He has already personally oil serviced my 911 and put a clutch in the 944, all well done meticulously ....... be good to give them some work mentioning the Club.

He's got a PhD and is working in a garage? Good on him - I'm impressed. Walking proof that academia doesn't universally breed people who can't exist in the 'real world'.

Good lad.

Oli.

ETA: This post may appear to be a bit of a sweeping statement - it's not meant to be. I understand that Neil Haughey on here also holds a PhD, and is more than capable of living in the 'real world' ... no offence intended to other similarly well-grounded brainboxes about these parts! []
