I've got it booked into a bodyshop for next week, having some minor work ie. few dints and a bit of paint on the sills plus new stoneguards on rear arches etc, so it looks like like i'll be hanging on to it for sometime yet, but if i did sell - would always buy another 993 to replace it, would only consider selling if i got a good offer, more than i paid.

PCGB have a valuations service, I think the prices have eased slightly due to the r******ion. But still lower depreciation than a modern car.
I was told that a valuation for insurances purposes should reflect what you would expect to have to pay to replace the vehicle for one in the same condition. A purchase at a reputable dealer will carry his business premium which (in my opinion at least) should be reflected in the Insurance valuation you have.
On a separate point I am always a little cynical of folks who say its all about condition. Yes, condition is key but after a certain point mileage has a significant effect on value. Folks can paint or change damaged parts but only the unscrupulous can lower the miles a car has covered.
My insurer was happy with 6 dated photographs to provide cover for £23000.
Be interesting to learn what PCGB suggest. keep us informed.

I would get the Club to do the valuation. I tried a couple of dealers to no avail. Bear in mind the people giving the valuation are doing it voluntarily, so you have to be a little patient with the response time. You need to take a couple of photos of the car from all sides as well as the interior. I think the insurance company and car club details explain what they want. Also to get an idea of how much its worth have a look on pistonheads.

Tognola valued my RS replica, BUT I put all my repair and service work through them and have done for years and I take my friends genuine RS there for work too, think you will get little change from a dealer if you don't give them any work, plus carries a lot of weight if the dealer who values your car is a) a recognised specialist in the marque and model, b) has looked after the car and knows it well, otherwsie expect to pay for the service or go to PCGB.
