Rear arch scuffing? Ideas please?

was it not just the cars with ABS that had the later offset, so when ABS became std they all had the late offset? As when I was looking for my car, some of the 87 models had abs (hence later offset) and also I did see a couple of 86 models (they could of been 87 registered early) with the offset, but the common item was ABS

Driver's side is a Falken and passenger side is a continental. Appears to be a more 'square' sidewall profile on the conti.

Its very unusual to have mixed tyre patterns on the same axle. Its a real no no. Gives very unpredictable handling characteristics in bends and in the wet .Maybe one of them is the spare tyre.?
Do both the tyres definately have the same profile rating at least ? what is the profile as a matter of interest?

That's what I thought myself too. I believe the previous owner had one tyre replaced when he got the wheels. Both tyres are the same profile which is 255/40/17's, everything else seems to match up

If it's a post 85.5 (i.e. oval dash) car then it has the later offset surely?

No, only later - 2.7?? - lux had later offset. My '86 is certainly early hubs.

My 1987 has the later offset (no abs) so it must have come in some time around late '86 to early '87 then I guess.

Ok, can someone clarify this?

I thought that the early hubs, 23 offset, non ABS were superseded by 53 offset ABS hubs - S2, Turbo and the run-out 2.7 Lux.. Is there a third type, late offset but non-ABS?

My head hurts now! []

Ok,

Next installment of the wheel scrubbing issues.... It would now appear that I have been barking totally up the wrong tree...... have just removed the wheel and checked the offset printed on it...... it is ET15!!!! I have posted a pic of my hub as well but I am now presuming that I have late hubs and early wheels???

It was only certain corners but seems to be a combination of the tyre, lack of clearance in the arch, and the wrong offset
