Rear Dampers

They may settle with use, but how long will that be? Time for a conversation with your specialist I reckon.

Does bouncing the back end help? Maybe putting something heavy in the boot will help Nick … an unscheduled trip to the local garden centre perhaps? [

the dampers, top mounts, bump stops and drop links have bee replaced, springs were in good condition so kept them, front ride height is from floor to wheel arch edge front 67 cms and rear 72cms
Im just wondering if these need the software re setting, they are after all PASM and use a module to control them, I might do a hard battery re set, and see if that help....might be a long shot......hard battery reset will re install original parameters of the car

I wonder if there is some sort of removeable/replaceable seat at the top of the rear spring which they’ve replaced without removing the old one?
If you've fitted them yourself, it sounds like something's gone wrong. I'm wondering if the dampers have locked themselves out in a fully extended position and they need re-setting somehow?

No the car has been fitted by a specialist, but it certainly sounds plausible the damper locked out in fully extended position, and the fitting of the top mounts helper springs, maybe they haven't been fitted correctly?
Looks like I will be returning with the car to the specialist
Nick
Comparing your ride height measurements with those of Andrew’s similarly PASM equipped Gen2 CS your car is riding about 15mm higher at the rear and about 5mm lower at the front, although part of that could be due to the jacked-up rear, so clearly something isn’t quite right. If all the parts are correct then I think that your only course of action is to get your specialist to have a look at it and investigate the fact that both PASM and PSM are now inoperative.

I named no names or businesses as I do not think that would have been the right thing to do.
I have seen the comments from Lee this morning, first let me say that Cotswold Porsche Specialists have been fantastic, especially Lee and Chris, always accommodating and a real credit to themselves, for me personally they tick all the boxes with really super work and I have never had cause for complaint, truly outstanding business and guys there.
Lee suggested that he supply the dampers.
Iam very fortunate that my son works for a very large dealer network, and one of those dealers is a Porsche Dealer where I get 10% discount, I supplied the VIN Number and the Registration number to obtain the correct dampers, I checked the invoice and the part number is correct.
We were lucky that on the day we had the other parts around to complete the job.
During the bookin process thankfully I mentioned to Chris to get the top mounts dust covers and bump stops ( Helper Springs ) just incase the top mounts were in poor condition, and yes the top mounts were past their sell by date
Car has done 115k miles so swapping out rear suspension, will make is sit a little differently. Especially when the old one was leaking (that is correct isn’t in Nick?)
I have to say I was unaware of a rear leaking damper, when I had the car checked by Centre Gravity last year it wasn't leaking then, thats not to say it hasn't developed a leak, that said if the PASM damper was at odds with the rest of the dampers I would have thought it would have shown a PASM fault on the instrument binnacle, just a guess.
I do concur that springs make the biggest difference, but so will shocks, especially if the old one is toast.
This is the reason for the original post to find out if I have a problem, and compare other members vehicle ride heights to my own.
We know the car is tastefully modified - stock shocks on the back may well not match the fronts.
Correct the car is modified with the installation of the IPD plenum Chamber, and I think GT3 throttle body, induction kit with a wing mounted cone filter, all installed by a previous owner, The statement indicates that possibly there is aftermarket front dampers, not that Im aware, Centre Gravities report would have mentioned this, the two dampers that were removed at the rear were OEM dampers.
Not sure why PASM has stopped.
The PASM and PSM, all dead as a dodo
We have been supplied a fault shocker in the last few weeks for a different job, but straight from fitting not after the first few miles. Nick has poor
luck recently with other Electrical gremlins.
Very true, with the Coil Pack burning out.
Good News Sort Of
The whole thing wore very thin with me last night, I became bloody minded, and I took the car for a spin, and now the PSM and PASM, Sport Mode is now working......my mind is now fried and I'm quite literally burnt out......time for a drink I think.
Thanks to all those that have contributed to the thread, it is very much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Nick
I think that you had to be quick to catch Lee’s post (C2dweller, a Club member) and I was surprised that it was deleted (by Admin?) since it provided some useful additional information - now verified by you - and was a fair riposte to Dave’s last post too. Also there’s no mention of Cotswold Porsche Specialists on his posts either, which is to his credit. I know that the Club is very sensitive to “naming and shaming” on the forum, but in this case I’m not sure that deletion of the post was necessary, but there you are, and please let Lee know that I/we hope that it doesn’t discourage him from posting here and elsewhere on the forum since his informed comments are always useful.

Yes you are right the front dampers will need to be done at some point, I chose not to replace the fronts based on the report from Centre Gravity stating that both fronts are in decent condition with no problems, I certainly don't think Lee would be discouraged from posting comments as his heart really is with Porsche and its owners.
But I will pass on the comment Jeff to him
Kind Regards
Nick
