Rear seats in 964 RS

Yeah, two seats good, four seats bad.

If you want to carry ballast, get a dogmobile!!!

That's what I did. Merc Estate was my best move ever, after the RS obviously.

And guess what? The hundundkinderwagen has cupholders - yes, Des, I couldn't believe it either. But I love them in a luxo barge as much as I hate them in a sportscar. My Merc one is even the flippy somersault type that retracts into the centre console... hours of fun for all the family.

Of course, Melv has the ultimate dogmobile: No.1 Merkin Towers AKA The MerkinMobilehome

hi Des, you're the first person to notice the back bumper!! or at least mention it..the cup cars used a standard c2 rear bumper i guess it was cheaper and quicker to replace when they were damaged at the track..the full story of the car was in aprils p/post , when i wrote a brief article about it. i had written some running reports about it for my ongoing articles in 911 + porsche world (why didnt they just call it porsche world?) but they pulled the plug on running reports so i condensed them for the article. I decided to take as many photos as i could at brands ,so i wasn't near the car, i went back to it at 6.15 but of course you had all gone.... cheers

Thanks Keith..so what is the story with the car spec, modifications, torque, bhp etc etc...nice picture!

Des i didnt intend to build a cup copy it just turned out that way!!! i wanted to move up a step from the 200bhp 924 turbo i used for 8 years in the club sprint championship, the next bhp band is 250bhp so a real RS moves into the p1 band with the monsters so wouldnt be competetive against the 993 RS + RSR of COLIN + PAUL ( although John Garlick was impressive at Brands) , my 930 has 360 bhp and scares me too much on the road without taking it on the track!! i started looking at 3.2 carreras but soon realised if i could suffer LHD i could buy a 964 with 250bhp straight from the factory... After a long search i bought the 964 c2 which is a k reg with 1993 chassis number so it has the lighter plastic inlet manifold and came with cup wheels and mirrors, i didnt want guards red again but it had no sunroof or rear wiper so was an ideal starting point. i stripped the interior and custom cages copied the cage from photos i took of Paul Clares cup car and Pete Morris club sport so it is pretty accurate in that respect. So it is a bit of a sheep in wolfs clothing, although it has a g pipe and twin outlet exhaust and sounds great. My friend had ninemeister mod his c2 to 290bhp with a K+N ,exhaust mod, and rechip so i may go that route if i stop sprinting.. The other mods were momo 07 steering wheel sabelt harness,(i had to remove the standard belts because of the cage) cargraphic springs and ninemeister alignment, ali strut brace, cobra seats, rs door cards and pulls, rs scoops ,and i have a k+n and spare drilled airbox i use when not on the track. it now weighs 1280kg , too heavy but i like the air con! its fun sitting on the startline cooling your gloves with the vents. After i fitted the sunstrip (mandatory) and white square i thought id go the whole hog and fit the cup stickers..think i found the ideal 911 as it has everything i want.. so far managed a class win at 3 sisters and second at croft, all on road tyres cheers

Nice description just imagine a 140kg less........

( although John Garlick was impressive at Brands)

Did Johnny Garlick 964RS Lightweight spank the GT3s?

Hi PaulC. I obviously know your car very well having owned it for 3 years as my personal car. The previous German owner had them fitted by a dealer because he wanted to take is children in it. I think you'll agree they did a fantastic job of not ruining anything in the process.

RSR (Paul)

Thanks for the clarification, I was meaning to drop you a quick email to see if you knew where the seats appeared from.

And yes they where fitted very cleanly, which was why I was thinking they may have been a factory fitted option.
