Where I had a replacement 992 on order for an early April delivery I had decided to ignore the ongoing issues with my car and just enjoy what I've got (with the roof / windows open drowning the rattles). However, I was asked to bring the car in for an 'update' which I did, then the current problems hit and I had to collect the car the morning the dealerships went into lockdown.
On collecting the car I noticed the passenger door rattled really badly and when I got home to reverse on to the drive the image had a big opaque red bar where before there was the rear of the car.
I originally thought I can't drive the car and I'll get a new one early April, I'll just put up with it.
However, were in July now, my finished car is gathering dust in a field somewhere in Germany waiting for transfer to the Port of Emden for its boat ride to the UK...Which the dealer can't tell me when that will happen (and there are a number of other unlucky customers in the same field also complaining) so it was recommended to book the car back in to get the door fixed AGAIN and to look at the camera.... Additionally, they are replacing the engine mounts while the car is in without me reporting having the warning so many others have had!
BEFORE the update this is similar to how my rear camera displayed (this is captured from a youtube video), an image of the back of the car where you could make out the rear plate and see exactly where the back of the car is (mine didn't have the red overlay);
AFTER the update I now have a big red bar that obscures the back of the car but according to the gaps at the side suggests there is a little extra gap;
The dealer is saying they've had a number of people complaining over the last few days this has happened to their 992's but they don't know why other than they think it is part of an update.
However, where it appears 'Porsche Press Office' in the last few weeks has been greasing car bloggers with 992 Turbo S's you can see in this CarWow image from two weeks ago the 992 Turbo S still has the original (and the exhaust pipes look cool!);
Incidentally, the front camera has not changed and is still showing the original front of the car;
My question is has anything happened to your rear camera?
Incidentally here is the rear camera on the brand new Cayenne courtesy car which is more like how mine was;
The Dealer Principal assures me because of the number of people complaining about this in the last week he has escalated the to Porsche head office.
Are you experiencing this?
