Recall: 997 Turbo & 997 GT2

ORIGINAL: garyw

I hope all well Paul..
I do get a slight rattle every so often, had it on all of my Turbos, so assumed it was just one of the characteristics..

Sad news though if the acceleration comparison is a Scorpio [;)]
If the car has stood then maybe something has stuck in position, hinds sight is a wonderful thing- especially watching the bar gauge [;)]

The Scorpio is capable of many Leptons I tell you.

They're normally just a blurr. Thousands of them on the road every day but so damn quick you just never see one...just a blurr...or maybe I need a trip to Specsavers.

Well with only 0.4bar of boost available this evening, it looks like mine may be having a visit to the OPC sooner than later.. []
After filling up at the petrol station it did however recover to normal 1.0bar.
The car was both hesitant and struggling to even rev to 5k even then it still felt like the boost was non linear
It has stood for a few weeks, but better to check....
I found out what a dangerous time 9pm can be on the road... full of blue neon trying to race you off the lights [&:] idiots (they'd never win)[;)]

Hi Gary
Very interesing when my own turbo played up a few weeks ago I had the problem en route to B&Q then after stopping the car and then starting journey home it was ok, your refuel may have fixed the issue or it could have been the stop start? Either way worth getting the service bulletin carried out at the dealership although I would suggest you limp the car to the opc yourself as my recent Porsche Assistance (RAC contractors) recovery to the dealership and scrapped chin spoiler saw me coming off worse in the wallet, I took that on the chin (pun intended) and when I suggested to Porsche assistance that they should only send the non damaging recovery trucks to Turbos and GT3s due to the lower front lips the response was very dismissive, leaving me to make a mental note to send away any recovery trucks in future if they have the high incidence angle loading ramps as opposed to the load bed that is placed flat on the road and driven onto then the whole load bed with car is then slid back onto the rear of recovery truck.
Incidentaly the second time the turbo boost played up was due to the linkage coming adrift from the VTG actuator arm ball joint.

Cheers

Paul

Luckily I've had no experience of transporters apart from the paint shop who were excellent..

Just checked with the OPC and mine hasn't had the check done, so its booked in for next week.
It showed the fault again yesterday but a reset of the car/ignition seemed to cure the fault, so doesn't seem like it fell apart just yet! [:)]
