Recommend exhaust muffler insert

Can anyone recommend a brand of exhaust muffler insert. I'm after the type that slides inside the existing tail pipe, for use in noise restricted track days.

Today I learnt that my car is 103 db (0.5m static) so am looking to reduce this to allow me a wider choice of circuits.

Thanks.

Try Demon Thieves but your car is LOUD

And here

Every 3 Db is approximately a doubling or halving of the sound level so I`m not sure you`ll get down to a satisfactory level. They measure 500mm at 45 degrees so you may be on the limit at a standstill but the drive-by`s will catch you out if you`re not careful especially if two cars close to the limit are close together.

Have you a middle box missing? If so I`d put in a removable one.

Tracks are very strict these days and more and more the drive-by mike's catch you out but the advantage of a turbo charged car is that they arent as noisy induction wise as an N/A car.

I measured my Golf with a straight through at 91Db and run a 60mm 4-2-1 and had a 100mm middle box inserted which brought it down nicely to 85Db static and doesnt trip 87.5 DB drive by`s unless close to another loud car (when they give you both the benefit of the doubt)

Edited to add that a deviation in outlet angle makes a massive difference eG; a bend on the end and if pointed at the ground is away from the static mike (but the drive-by's are the real issue if you are on the limit)

Certainly loud for an S2. Have you removed the resonator? Id try re-fitting it, presuming that you have, because thisll take the edge off without costing anything power wise.

Are you confident that the reading is accurate, because 103dB is loud? On a separate note (see what I did there?), 3dB does indicate a doubling of sound pressure, but not perceived loudness.

Supatrapp and the like will quieten the exhaust down a little, but its been shown that the reduction in noise us usually accompanied with a reduction in output.

As Paul says directing the pipe towards the floor will help with the static test, but not the drive-by so much. On a positve note ([:D]) the drive-by shouldnt be such a nasty surprise with a normally aspirated car...

Thanks chaps.

My car was measured here: http://www.btbexhausts.co.uk/ they seem to know their onions, so am assuming the measurement is accurate.

The exhaust system was fitted by the previous owner as I am unsure how it compares to the OEM system. It has a small middle 'silencer' then larger rear silencer with 4" tailpipe.

My Westfield was 103 DB

We used to go to Carnells bike dealers near MK when on a blat where all the Sunday bikers met up and it would set off all the surrounding bike alarms when started up [:D]

On a separate note (see what I did there?)

Groan..........................[8|]

OOOPS....................just noticed this [8|]

That is loud, sounds like a bit of a needlessly large exhaust to me designed to sound loud - probably detrimental to performance too. As its not a turbo you have more induction roar to take into account on drive-by's.
