Red Letter Day for the Cup Car!!

ORIGINAL: Melv

and then remembered I bought three videos of the '91 season..............Singen, Ostereichring and Zandvoort,

Watched the Singen video last night. Car driven by Vittorio Colombo who also raced F40's in Italy in the '90's. Not a great race for him, but Singen is a road track in the spirit of Monte Carlo (but flatter!) with Armco erected just for the race. Very tight and at one point a car gets tipped, slowly, but surely, onto it's side!! The driver treats the door as a sunroof....

The rate of attrition very high, but 'my' car seemed to remain unscathed, although not a front runner in this race.

There is a scene of the Obermaier team giving up due to extensive rear body damage, then the above incident happens and the team manager comes rushing back realizing the race has been red flagged and there is a chance for them to get the car back on track for the restart. So, get, this, they take off the back bumper, attach a Merc truck to the rear of the car and pull out the damage........The car was also sponsored by Italian shoe company 'diadora'.

Now the world gets smaller.....Jo has sent me a pic of his car + the team's second car as run in'92, in the same colours of Torno Internazionale (big Italian construction company) as mine........could it be they ran together in the same team in'92? The seach is on!!! Ran by team 'Jolly Club', who Colombo raced Ferrari's for.........wheels within wheels.....

And yes, Laurence, it's a blast!!!
