Reflections on 12 months with a GT3

:pWhilst stood by the doors at the NEC today, side by side were SLS, 458, GT3RS and an Aston ...
I've forgot what I was going to say just thinking about it again....[:)]

Nice Gary indeed, but they never hold their value as well as the GT3 RS and as far a sound wise no way (the normal turbo) issue, the new Mclaren has the same problem

The GT2 RS is very fast though.

I was at Silverstone at the end of last year and on the circuit at the same time as a German plated GT2 RS I carried some good speed through Becketts and Chappel with the GT 2 RS behind me, as soon as we hit the hangar straight it went past me like I was stood still and I was hard on it. The Turbo boost gives it amazing acceleration down the straights and the GT 3 just cant keep up with that. Its expensive at £164k but still value for money compared to the competition with similar performance. The noise was not impressive though but I would still love to have a go in one.

I wonder what engine the next GT 3 will have? Will Porsche have to stay with the Metzger engine for homologation reasons?

Indeed the GT2 RS is very fast, excellent value for money compared to say a Ferarri 458, and actually the car mags need to compare this not the GT3RS as its not fair a 450 BHP car of course cannot compare to a car with 550 - 650 BHP, well not along the straights (even rubbish top gear's recent road test proved the GT3RS round a cirucit on bends can nearly even catch a car with a 100BHP more). But for me its much more than speed, the experience of going slow and feeling, hearing the sound of the exhaust is passion, I think if you asked people in the street what that want most from a supercar is I guess performance, looks and the sound. Be nice to have both though!!!!

Sadly the Metzger engine is unlikely to be in 991 series cars as it doesn't conform to the latest EU emissions targets. Hence the last hurrah in the GT2RS. Will be interesting to see what comes next in the cup cars!
