Modern Porsche Day

This event is in effect a "mini" National Event aimed specifically at the late model cars, and is being held at Gaydon Heritage Motor Museum.

With the increase in status of this event we now have club shop, the race centre, sponsorship and support from Porsche Cars GB and Porsche Centre Cambridge, trade stands, and more...

Members can drive the on-road Cayenne GTS on a driving skills course, and can be taken round the "Land Rover experience" circuit in a Cayenne.

We will be parking by Registers where possible, and a display of model variants in Blue-Black is intended to feature all the water cooled Porsche models from the 1996 launch of the Boxster. To assist with this I am looking for a display featuring representative samples of the various models from 2.5 Boxster through to the latest Gen 2 variants. Please contact me as soon as possible if you can help with your car.

Welll well well.... I learned something in Porsche Post - the Cayenne off-road experience is only available to those that pre-book. Seems that you need to do this via Club Office. Apologies but I didn't know this myself until I read it in the Chairmans Column, and in the newsdesk item on pp12 of the March issue. [:D] Get booking!

I thought we had been told that booking forms were not allowed anymore [:D] The safest way seems to be to phone Club Office - 01608 652 911 They are lovely people there and I'm sure they will be more than eager to help.

Mark, we have sent our cheque to club office. If you would like to use our car please let us know. Lapis Blue 987 2.7 2006 spec. Sue & Mick Dennis

We're in. John McGirl confirmed his acceptance. Simple enough to do. Just drop him an e-mail. We can't be the only ones interested, can we?[:)]

I am interested in attending. My car is silver so I guess its not required for the display although its one of the first 987S models produced (also LHD). Do you need to pre book attendance or just turn up on the day ?

I understand that it is best to book through Club Office (01608 652911), but this information has been cunningly left out of the article advertising the event on page 14 of the current April edition of Porsche Post! If I recall it's £9 - if you don't book in advance then they charge you an extra couple of quid to get in to the club area (I don't understand how this works either)

Come on everyone - this is a fabulous place for a visit! I've got some cars for the display, but as I don't know how many we need I'm asking for more! I have : Our own car Kish Mick & Sue Terry Joyce Of course you don't have to display your car - I'd love to see lots of Boxsters there regardless! So who's coming?

Hi Berty, Instructions from on high are that we get blue/black ones, but if we are a bit short then thanks for the offer. I don't know the exact layout or anything, so it might be that I am pulling cars from the gate to populate a display ! Should be a fun day anyway [:)]

Shamelessly stolen fromt he "Modern" car Forum area! [:D]
Hi all, Just a note to remind all members our 1st main event of 2009 is a fortnight away! All members all Regions/Registers are invited to display their Porsche within our exclusive area and enjoy on and offroad cayenne, trade stands, club shop and much more including the Autofarm display and technical stand, the Motor Heritage centre itself is superb, family friendly and ultra modern with it's associated cars, memorabilia and display items. Gaydon is easy accessed from the M40, members can pay on the day upon arrival or pe-book via club office (Narinder on tele 01608 652911). We as a smaller group of 996, 997, Boxster, Cayenne and Cayman have previously and successfully enjoyed the event but this year we are enhanced with board support and a much larger event, Porsche cars GB and Porsche centre cambridge have sponsored and supported us once again and we are truly gratified and sincerely wish to give all members great VFM and a super event to attend, participate and enjoy, see you there! (all Porsches will be Register type parked and a special evolution type Black & Blue display of current model cars will be featured. Any enquiries are welcomed on my email address 996@porscheclubgb.com or talk to your RS. Best regards Johnny McGirl
So... Who else is joining us then?

I'm booked in. Red 2007 2.7. Looking forward to it. Am told tickets are being sent out today if you have pre-booked.

I've booked so will see you all there. Anyone driving up from Witney, Burford, Swindon, etc. want to drive up in convoy? Alan.

Will be good to see you all there. So who else is going? No obligation to display or anything - we just want to see you all there [:D] We are the biggest register in the club, we should be able to take over the largest model parking area [:)]

Might be able to make it for the afternoon. Our R10 driver training at Millbrook finishes at 12:30, so I'm going to see if I can get across to Gayden for about 14:00. Will have to pay on the gate, though.
