As the newly-appointed 944 Register Secretary, I would like to formally introduce myself to those of you who don't know me yet....

And then duck for cover from those who do

First thing to say is a huge thanks to Martyn for all his work, and to Nick Fearn who did a great job filling in. You'll be pleased to know that Paul Smith is continuing as Assistant Register Secretary, or ARS, so at least one of us knows what he is doing!

I will put a couple of posts on over the next few days with a bit more info on myself and my ideas for the next year, but in the meantime please let's start to get some feedback about what you guys want out of the club. We are the largest register, so we should have the largest input. (By the way, Boxster register is nipping at our heels, so let's get some of the lapsed members back!)

Also thanks to John Sims and Rick "Eastenders" Cannell for volunteering me on the basis that they will do all the work whilst I get the credit.....

So, into action. And, does anyone know how I can get a 700mb picture to download as my avatar?????????

There's no hope for us if you can't even do that boss [;)]

But seriously.
Open your picture in Paintbox, then select 'Image' from the drop down menu
Select stretch/skew and reduce the percentage until the picture complies with the forum rules (145 x 145 pixels, 20kb max)
Oh, and congratulations Paul, I'll try not to be so cheeky in future [;)]

Well done Paul.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I am lapsed and I might well come back if:[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
  1. Someone tells me what happened to the CoC money and it was used ina worthwhile way. OR
  2. The directors admit it was a disaster and are suitably chatsened never to do it again. OR
  3. The directors step down and allow an election of replacements.

I don't remember that. This is obviously one of Paul's extensive armoury of management tools he is bringing to bare.

I'm glad the meeting went well last night and am much looking forward to the days to come.

I remain your true and humble servant..............................NOT! [:D]

Awhh, come on Fen rejoin, you can then become a DM (Dissident Member). And think what a boost it will give Paul thinking that he has already impacted on the lapsed members. And you will be able to read all of Paul's reports in Porch Post - assuming he manages to work out how his computer works.

Fen,
Why not table your questions at the AGM (9th April) I know questions have to be submitted in writing before that date but don't know the closing date.

Only one thing, for now, please can we have a column in PP EVERY month, almost all the other registers can mange it and if we are the largest it looks really bad if we don't have a monthly presence.

And you can't use the old chestnut about 'contributions from members' it doesn't wash with me. If other members had the time to do that, then they would have volanteered for the job of RS already. The fact that you have taken on the challenge means you should accept all the responsibilities, and I applaud you for taking it on.

I do something for another organisation, which is often a pain in the a**e, but someones got to do it and I volanteered so I do it properly to the best of my ability.

Congratulations and good luck.

Congratulations Paul, I've not had the pleasure of meeting you yet.
I'll be joining the register this very day as we cannot have the Boxster crowd getting above their station!. I suppose we 944 owners are on a loosing streak as their has probably been more Boxsters manufactured now than all the 944's ever made or sadly still road worthy.
I did intend to join at the weekend whilst at Cornbury but was not possible.

Jason

Congratulations Paul, I have also not had the pleasure of meeting you (I think) but wish you every sucess in your new roll.

Well, well well. I obviously haven't been keeping an eye on what's been happening Many congratulations, I'm sure you'll do a great job.

I'll put my thinking cap on for ideas for articles (maybe even content). How about 'How a 5 minute job turned into the nightmare from Hell ? ' I'm sure some folks'll have tales to tell [:(]

Will catch up with you on the 20th.

All the best

Hi Paul

Congratulations and Welcome as new 944 RS...

As you will see below we have two 944s but I am not sure if we are on your register, if not then perhaps you could add us both. We will look out for and hopefully join you on some of your register events.

Please note in your diary that we will be running the Bowood event again on 4th June and this will be our 10th Anniversary, so a good show of the 944 Register would be more than welcome and you could also think of beating the 964 Register who have won for 3 years on the trot the best register trophy. Now there's a challenge for you!!!

Harriet

If it was such a good thing for the members then why such a dark secret that it has to be asked about at the AGM? I've asked the question on here before and got no answer, and I'm asking again. If the answer is good news then surely it should be forthcoming only too quickly?

how do you join the register?

Blokes just have to fill in a form. Girls have to sit an interview with the RRC (Register Review Committee) where such things as suitability and length of skirt are considered. If the applicant is successful in the interview then stage two involves retiring to the Registering Couch where more personal details are noted. [:D]

Don't worry Paul, I've put Colin's name on our list of potential trouble makers and Rick & I will "have words" with Colin at the next event.

You didn't mention that henceforth all 944 events will be compulsory unless a doctors certificate for driver or car is presented seven days in advance.
