RMS fail

Well got the car back and the RMS and coil packs were covered under warranty. they also gave me the prearranged discount on other items. The only weird bit was that having been told that the clutch was worn and i should replace now, there was no mention of it on the work sheet and nothing on the bill. I asked why it had not been replaced and they said that the clutch was actually fine and they couldn't warrant charging me for a new kit!

Not sure if i am pleased or i have just missed the chance for a new clutch at cost!

I reckon they were quite honest about it..
Most garages would still do the work (remember they are charging Porsche GB for their time) if they could..

Maybe one of those where you could of insisted they do it...
Great outcome either way though with good results, I hope it stays that way and you can get to enjoy the car more now..

Interesting bit of info was that i was told the service centre had "a number of other" 997's in for the same work this week.

Apart from the clutch mix up, I have to say that the service i got was great and the car looks, feels and sounds like its running great...so garyw you are right, on with enjoying the car.

I do wonder though with less scrupulous garages feel the pressure in the current climate to undertake "precautionary" warranty work, especially if they are getting paid for the work and the customer is not being charged?

Must be a temptation for some in these difficult times, but we all end up paying for it when the warranty premium goes up again[].

I may be overly cynical, but all this reeks of needing to generate revenue and still keep the customer vaguely happy.

i.e. tell the customer 10 things have gone wrong, charge him for 8, pretending you are doing them a favour, and in reality only 2 needed doing.....

As snarf said above, everyone ends up paying for this when they review the warranty program again.
