Book yer nights with the Griff and after a few sessions in the beginners group we'l let you play with the big boys, if you've 320BHP you should murder me.
Kinda don't think this will happen somehow[;)]

Mike

Well, I am impressed with your posts, looks like I will be giving Wayne a phonecall.

As for meeting you on the track, there is no way I can catch you on the straights, but I think you will need to get your suspension sorted to keep up with me in the corners [;)]

Really enjoyed Sunday. Thanks.

p.s. amazing drive to St Andrews, then round the East Neuk of Fife and back to Kirkaldy before heading back up North [:D]

p.p.s how do I contact the Griff to book a place at the 5No summer track nights?

Any other Hp figures to share? And no-ne grenaded an engine???[:D]

Chris, no mods-this is a bog standard car. I have heard that Boxster engines do leave the factory with a minimum of 228bhp and can vary by 5-7% which would be in line with what I am seeing.

Silly me i thought i was a boxter S you were talking about..

Never driven at knockhill, so you dont think my 70bhp and 90lbft advantage would help then?

lbft NOT lb/ft [;)]

I'd have thought that a meaty torque advantage would make a whole world of difference uphill out of the hairpin, and since that is the longest straight by a fair old margin then it counts a lot there.

Many years ago, when Scotland was one region in the Club and Tony Flint was the RO (8 1/2 years ago I think) I did a club trackday at Knockhill in an '85 3.2 Sport. The car was boggo standard and I had a blast, but it didn't half show up that it was a road car rather than a track car.

I went from that 911 pretty much straight to an '86 944T which was quicker in every way than the 3.2 - much less character though.

No way am I 911 bashing (and when I do buy one again I imagine I'll go for a late 3.2), but I would expect (not tried it, admittedly) to be quicker in a 944T - more torque, better balance and very important IMO better weight distribution and ABS so you can really get on the anchors. I'm sure all you 3.2 guys know how easy it is for braking to turn into smoke over the front wings and brown underpants.

All that said though I'm sure a competent driver who knows the track could take huge lumps of time out of me which would quite probably redress the balance.

OK OK OK You 944 bunch are easily wound up, your cars are great and the fastest 944 Turbo regular at Knockhill is Frazer Murphy, who doesn't contribute to the forum yet, his car has a Stage 1 boost mod, uprated suspension and sticky tyres and is very effective.
