Rolling Road

Wayne Schofield is now working out of NineMeister in Warrington.

He did my 944 Silver Rose earlier this yeR and I can honestly say I've never met anyone who knows how to live map a car on a rolling road any better than Wayne [:)]

His attention to detail is awesome


Ahh.. thanks for the info...... is he still using the same mobil number? I will need to get the car sorted by him before pressing the loud pedal too far...:)

much petrol is about 1ltr for 7 km

Without trying to be funny but if that is town driving around London with the engine idling I would say that is around right (I calculate it is being 29p/mile roughly speaking or 20MPG if my maths is not too horrific working on petrol being ÂŁ1.30 a litre). Christ, my mate's Passat 2.0 PD TDI DSG was doing low 30s MPG around town with me feathering the throttle! My 944 is not that different around town and when I am putting my foot down. A chap with a 306 GTi-6 consumes that amount of petrol in town as well (although he does drive it as if he stole the car).

On a motorway cruise like many it does then do around 30MPG even with the odd blast in the journey.

My S2 (and others) were better but even that was around 22-24MPG around town (like other larger engined cars I have owned). The only large engined exception to the rule I have owned was a Volvo 740 2.3i Auto. That did high 20s around town and 38MPG on a motorway. It was also the slowest out of the big engined cars...
 
I think it's a bit less, about 46 litters for 174 miles. But nice to know it's not too bad :). In any case I think I need to do the rolling road to figure out the hesitation. It wasn't there before. Just showed up one day. Could b just vacuum problem though...

Agreed - he worked his magic on my car last year runs superbly and puts out a reasonable amount of power ! [;)]

Would also agree about the worth of a basic boost enhancer - ÂŁ100 very well spent. Every turbo should have one fitted if nothing else....that was the first mod I made to my original car but of course once you start its very hard to stop ![:)][&o]
 
I don't intend to do any mods. Just what to make sure everything is tuned and works properly. Like u say if I start I won't stop lol

19.3 mpg your getting. What iv noticed with running augtronic ecu and data display is that once the boost needle is close to middle 1bar fueling will richen up. Even from 1/4 below the middle mark.

I had Tom adjusted this out b4 and will do again, makes driving up hill Easyer as you allerator pedal movement needs to be very minimal to keep afr at 14.7 rather then 12.5 when entering boost. Without making any noticeable power I could very well be driving around with afr of 12.5.

I would expect the relationship and behaviour to be very much the same with a stock set up. Try and drive keeping the boost needle closer to 0.4 mark on cruze and see if it help mpg.

Is that a mixture off town driving or motorway?

There is some documention about the shift points and and under rev the cars.

Be intersted to hear more on the hestation your getting. What rpm what gear. Wheres the boost needle of it at the same point Could be your tps isn't quite in the right place.

Tps is throttle position switch. It's the black box on the left side off the trottle body with the engine off you should hear a click as soon as you move the throttle cable and butterfly. If its not clicking you need to adjust its position till it does. It's adjustment is so fine a little turn on the cable will stop it from closing and letting the ecu know.

 
It's mostly town driving. The hesitation happens even at idle and in gears. It's almost as if the engine chokes for a split second. I will def check the tps. It just started one day. Before everything was fine

With my Turbo I'd get about 200 miles to a full tank if driving around town, so I think you don't have a problem.

On a long run it would be circa 400 - 450 miles a tank.

These are not citycars [:D]
 
IIRC if you look in the Porsche handbook, the early 944T is rated for 44 MPG....think you'd have to drive like miss daisy to have any chance of getting near that but hey that's the official figures...:)
