Rough running on 3.2

Have just got hold of a 87 3.2 targa.I have got a couple of questions.
It runs a bit rough like it is only firing on 5,but seems to improve as the revs hit about 3000,any ideas?
Also the car is a celebration model, does anyone have more info on these cars?
Thanks,
Andrew.

It could be a number of things but if you suspect it is running on less than six cylinders I'd start by looking at the condition of the plugs, the leads and caps and the dizzy.

hi andrew,
sorry no idea what is making your car run badly unless you filled with diesel!![:D]
I own a celebration model too but i was told they only came out in '88 so i dont know how much water the rest of what i was told holds.
I understand that the 40 dealerships in UK each got 3 celebration cars, one of each body type, all the cars were sport spec, all were blue, they had Ferry Porsche's signiture stitched into the front seats.i was told they are quite rare now however this may have been the dealers way of swaying my decision.
Some or all of the above may be a load of brown stuff and im sure others will correct my reply, i too would love to know more about these cars.

Thanks for the replys.
I have had a look at the history that came with my car,and found the original bill of sale.It is a celebration model(88 model year) and it cost just over ÂŁ41000! It has the signature seats and the diamond blue paint.
Andrew.

Great to see some fellow anniversary owners on the forum.
I have the cabriolet anniversary car and have done a lot of research into the model. (I am nearing the end of an article for PP) and would welcome any pictures from other owners of this model to use in the feature. - Obviously the feature will contain more detail about the model but here are some of the facts.... Backed up not just from independant books (as a lot of them are wrong) but over the last few years I have sourced from around the world lots of goodies... inc the press release for the model and the anniversary sales literature a Porsche letter of invitation to view the car and other goodies inc the plaque that is prob missing off your glove box lids.
1) The car was built to celebrate both 25 yrs of 911 production & the 250,000th car produced. Porsche produced other 25 yr anniversary cars but they went to the US only and were either silver or black with no signature and only marked 25 yrs of the model.
2) They are all Diamond Blue with Ferry Porsche signature on the seats. - Not Marine blue as they are often refered to in books.
3) Only 50 cars like this came to the UK (30 coupe, 10 Targa and 10 Cabriolet) making them rarer than a club sport (which I think from memory was 64)
There is lots more and I can bore the keenest of porsche-files with data on these cars so if anyone is interested in being part of a Porsche Post feat please email me (adzpix@hotmail.com) if not keep an eye on PP for the new year and read more about it.

Thanks for the info.My car is a targa. It needs some paintwork so i dont think it will be good enough to feature in pp!
Andrew.

Hi Andy, I concur with those above sounds like plugs leads to me I had a similar experience last year, car was only running on 5 a new set cured the problem - good luck

Andy... Be carefull who you get to do your paintwork.... Diamond Blue is a very difficult colour to match or blend. What body work are you in need of paintwork on? I had to get my bumpers and bonet done and the results (after a few attempts) were spot on.
Targa is a good choice as like the cabriolets its a one in ten car!
Has your car got a plaque on the glove box lid?
Adam

hi guys
great to hear more info on the celebration cars, even rarer than I thought.
I too am getting my car resprayed, in fact its booked in next week. I am getting a full, glass out, respray and also having the wheels refurbished. I have ordered a stainless steel twin outlet sports exhaust which should arrive today[:)].
Am hoping to take lots of photos during the work, if some are of use for the PP article I would be happy to forward them.

I am going to get the whole car painted,as the previous owned must have polished it with a bit of sandpaper!
Andrew.

the problem with mine is rust at the bottom of the door pilars, stont chips all over the front , bumper paint bubbling near rubbers and door edges chiped where they have hit other cars etc. apart from this the paint is perfect!! I managed to get the panel seals on ebay for a good price too as the old ones have gone a bit hard. I am doing away with the large rubber bumpers on the rear bumper too. Also fitting LED number plate lights. I will keep all the original parts so it can be returned to standard if i sell it.

Well guys good luck with the paint works.. I too have had few tweaks.. that inc. new exhaust (single outlet to maintain origial feel) also hot air mass and filter full engine re-map and dyno plus a few geometrical set up alterations ... would be great in the better weather to get the three together for a pic Coupe Cab and Targa!
Any how lets see the cars now so heres a small pic of mine for starters.....

Hi Ray

Can I ask who you have chosen to perform the full glass out respray on your coupe?

Thanks

Anil

Andy looks nice from what I can see. Do you have the plaque on the glove box lid or is it missing?
Adam
