RS brake discs?

Guys,

Swapped my pagid blues for pagid yellows and they have been fantastic....but by god they have eaten the front discs!

Need replacing so is everyone still getting standard Porsche ones or has anyone tried anything different?

Anyone got any spares for sale and or knows what price they are these days?

more in detail:

When I bring my 993 Cab to my specialist, they put on aftermarket discs, they know it will never be on track and the discs are ok for road use.

For the Cup car they always choose original Porsche discs and Pagid yellows. They know why, racing Porsches successfully for decades now.

I did try a set of none Porsche disks....ÂŁ80 per disk cheaper. They were crap[:eek:]...only lasted about 6 months. The wear rate was ok (with Padgid Blue's) but they just cracked to hell as if they were made from "monkey metal"! I have now gone back to OE disks with a new set of Blue's to go with them (old set had hardly worn[&o]). I have never suffered fade with the Blue's and surely they are kinder on the disks???[:-]

My current Porsche discs are only just starting to show cracks from the holes --- and I will soon be on my third set of front pads.

Even the paint comes off my wheels.

So why wouldn't you choose original fit discs ?

Only if you are going to let them rust away ... ? [;)]

Maybe, but I also drive it on the road and hate the screech of hard pads.

And, Strasse is 10 mins away from my work.

Plus, have yet to run out of brakes on track ?

 
Are Alcon discs avail for 964 , they are the biz for GT3 setup, last for ages and you can use RS19/29 pads on these no probs, no squeels on mine
 
Thanks Mike, I had never asked because I have yet to run out of brakes. But maybe I'm not trying hard enough ? [;)]

The GT3's are all heavier and faster, so maybe chew through brakes faster ---

The yellow pads 19 and 29 are fairly easy on the porsche original discs,sole role of the yellows were endurance for this reason.
Has some one fitted cheapo discs,or had the discs skimmed.

No they were original Porsche equiptment disks?

My 964 has a good floating disk setup, but only works with the big red calipers due to the rotor size I've got. It's an off the shelf setup with Wrightwood Centre Bell and AP Rotors. See pic. Probably do a narrow body setup.

 
I agree with Mr Howells on the RS29. I've stretched a set of disks on my GT2 racer to 25 hours with the RS29. Not sure why you experienced the disks being eaten. That is 25 hours of proper flat out racing and stopping from 170mph repeatedly during races. I think the RS29's really look after the disk.
