RS brake discs?

ORIGINAL: RSR

I agree with Mr Howells on the RS29. I've stretched a set of disks on my GT2 racer to 25 hours with the RS29. Not sure why you experienced the disks being eaten. That is 25 hours of proper flat out racing and stopping from 170mph repeatedly during races. I think the RS29's really look after the disk.

Stopping from 170mph!!! Those are serious speeds Paul![:-]

Ignoring the speedo and checking the gearing chart for my current setup I get to 6200rpm in 6th at the 100 metre board on hanger straight, which equates to 171.7mph. The car does this lap after lap in an hours race. No fade nothing. Running Porsche OEM 380mm floating disks, RS29's and racing fluid. To be fair the car has excellent brake cooling setup with 100mm hose ducting directly to a metal shroud that totally encapsulates the back of the disk.

Jason, you would have to sell all your cars to get my watch, and i then still would not sell it to you![;)]
The 993rsr has a great off the shelf front cooling parts from porsche motorsport, which would probably fit any 964 also.

Backing up whats beeing said here , Hanger straight taking 6 th gear , [means 160mph plus] 380 mm performance friction/floaters, with yellow pagids lasted ages !

Also now have ex fac, carbon fibre m /sport brake ducting parts on lighter Cup Car working brilliantly ........................i am not sure i wud have wanted to pay for them if they were nt on the car price insane !

Don't get me wrong the brakes have been fantastic - just didn't expect the disks to crack like they have (reminds me of my GT3 disks[] ) - starting to think maybe they weren't OPE disks when replaced...will have to have a looksy when i change them, got some new ones on order.

Paul your watch must be the most expensive milsub in the world if its 300k + mate [] !!! Think you've got your dremay hat on[;)]

Just picked one up in the last couple of weeks so that the fullset of 72's for me now - 72 Mil, 72 5513, 72 1655 straight seconds & 72 GMT. Trying to avoid a 72DRSD but I'll have your mil off you when you wake up again[;)][;)] [:D]

Would love to have a closer look at it next time we meet up bud[:)]

Tell me about it - was up to about 50 but reigned it right back in last few months to about 20ish....although this 20 seem to cost 10x more than the 50!

Madness.....a bad bad disease for sure[&:]

Speaking of watches, and as it's a Porsche forum... would you pay £75,000 for this...

Porsche Design 'Indicator'... have we discussed this watch before? It looks like a kids watch to me... in fact I'm sure I had a similar looking Timex when I was 5!

One I would like is the classic Heuer Carrera Dato 45 (apparently very rare and very valuable)...

But I can't wear expensive watches, quite apart from not being able to afford them I would almost definitely lose them!

Which reminded me of sitting in a restaurant (Harpers) in Manchester one lunchtime a few years ago (about '90) with my business partner and we found a Rolex on the floor under the table (Bill kicked it and looked to see what he had kicked). It was a diamond bezel GMT Master (I think)... well at the time there were a lot of 'snide' Rolex's knocking around Manchester so we thought it was probably one of those. However there was a Rolex dealer just 50 yards away from the restaurant so we took it in there and asked whether it was real or not. It turned out it was the genuine article and was worth about £27K at the time. We took it back to the restaurant and left it with the manager who told us the next time we went that the owner had come back looking for it and gave him a £500 tip for being honest! We got our lunch FOC that day! LOL

The trick to making them last is:

a)don't use 'em....[;)]
b)use 'em properly -i.e.short and sharp.....
c)drill out the dust from the holes before every track day...(I do...[:)])

I'm running Pagid orange on OE discs -GT-One complain that I hardly ever need to replace pads and discs!![:D]

I do usually always get the dust out - though did a track day at CD then 3000kms around europe starting the next day which probably didn't help> Think if i had better tyres on I could also have been braking shorter and sharper but ran the SSRs into the ground. Hey ho i was fun :)

Interesting --- is there anything harder than Standard which doesn't screech ?

Screeeeeech if you want to go faster!!!!!

In the city - short, hard effective stabs on the brakes and they don't screech - just a new technique to learn. [:D]

On the track - who gives a ***k! [:D]
