Hi to all:

I am new into the 964 RS forum


I have just sold a 964 c2 afet having owned a 993 c4s. I i have now started to look for a 964 RS. my goal is 95% track time but still keeping it in a nice aesthetic condition,


I have been offered different machines, and the best priced ones are usually Touring ones. I would tweak them to weight as little as a real RS but I am wondering about their Aftermarket value if I ever feel like selling them...


Can you give me some advice?

Agreed, keep it original. Strip and prep a C2 if thats what you want. Or buy a clubsport that is already prep'd pretty well , all be it in pretty retro period way.
 
The vast majority have already been tweeked or modified .... and agree if you find an original car in original condition keep it that way .... you will pay big money for something totally unmolested ..... On the other hand have some fun, they are all basically the same shell, so pay less do more and have some fun in a real RS ... A c2 WILL NEVER DRIVE THE SAME[:D]
 
THANKS TO ALL!! The touring i am looking at has got a half roll cage, RS door panels, Pole positions, radio system has been all sealed and inexistant. Original panels and seat would be given with the car. I think that aside what i have mentioned the only other relevant differences between the RS touring and the others would be: Air con, sunroof and power steering, am i correct? Seam welded shell, Suspension, brakes, gearbox and other are suposed to be the same....isn't it?
 
I'm afraid I dont see the point in buying a Touring and making it more track focussed. Simply buy a lwt. There are many of them around and they already have the work done that you are looking at. Des's point is valid (to an extent!), in that many lwts have had work done, in which case buying one tweeked isnt silly, but to molest an original car will detract from its value. 95% track time sounds like a clubbie / cup to me. 60% track is good for lwts and beyond that a touring. Again there are cars out there, dont rush and jump in. Wait to get the right one. I spent 2 years (nearly) sourcing mine. And whilst its not everyone's first choice, it fulfills my niche requirements and risk profile. 95% track time! Racing potential.
 
Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes again! With 95% track time (if the absolute number of hours is not too small [;)]), realistically, you will soon regret not having a more track-focused car if you push a bit. My progression to race cars (from a lwt 964 RS) stemmed from this frustration.

I have the Touring and Clubsport. I would never entertain the Touring for track, it just isn't right. However the N-GT is spot on for the track and is a real occasion every single time I get in it, I have also driven it to the Ring a few times for 1000 mile round trip. It doesn't miss a beat! Agree with others, decide what you want the RS for and buy the model according to this desire.

Definitely only 7 C16 RHD Tourings, I think there are 11 RHD Tourings worldwide, the others are probably Singapore or HK cars (assuming they still exist) The Midnight Blue C16 RHD Touring that was for sale at the back end of last year appears to have sold (if you can believe what the dealer's website says). Would this be the 1st UK 64RS to break the £100k barrier?

The touring was exactly 100kg heavier than a RS Carpet same as C2 .... allegedly according to Paul Mclean they were designated M007 .... can anyone show any documentation? The chassis numbers are within the M002 Carpet range.

can all this be found in PET7.1? I don't want to start a new thread for this and i cant find an appropriate topic.. so I'll ask it here (sorry for the off topic) Were standard NGT parts available as options for the LWT, i.e. could the battery cut off by the steering wheel on the NGT be factory ordered for the LWT?
