RS wheels stolen

ORIGINAL: jmspear

Pilot Paul, thanks for the heads up, just got back off hols and car and all parts still there - Phew!

Will be hard to prove are my wheels as no serial numbers, unlike tyres, which is why they are probably for sale without tyres!

does seem very suspicious but have probably been through two or three (or more) sellers by now :(

John

Hi John,

I spoke to Adrain, who refurbished your wheels (which were then stolen) and he would be able to identify if the wheels on ebay where refurbed by himself and he also knows all of his genuine customers.
Might be worth having a chat with him?

Just a thought ?

Cheers

John

Hi John,

Good to hear from you, yes I will give Adrian a bell, being able to identify something is yours when it turns up is key, I found this out the hard way. Something did turn up (an off petrol road buggy for my kids also taken) at the local breakers (who kindly posted it on ebay), when the police chased it up the breaker put them onto a trail of different low life which eventually petered out - you know bought in a pub from fred, who got it from stan, who found it in a hedge sort of thing, but I had distinguishing marks, could prove it was mine, by then the breaker had sold it, but on threat of taking them to court, for selling goods they knowingly had no title to, (the police had told them not to sell it as the title was contested), they actually paid me its value in cash, I found a lawyer in smart suit was more than a match for the alsations, muscles and tattoo's (their inital approach was F off we'll thump you its ours, we bought it, my response was a summons to the company registered address which worked wonders very quickly! Police had no interest and were no help btw!!)

everything is now marked with with smart water, something I strongly recommend to everyone on the forum, as it is almost impossible to prove bits are yours apart from the physical chassis and genuine RS parts are often worth more than their weight in gold!

thanks again

all the best

John

It is really sad that the police ( and Garda here in Ireland ) show so little concern over cases like this, yet almost every motoring offence is nabbed and followed up. The theft in your case seems to be organised, your event was part of a mister bigger who is making a nice living from this.

Hi John,

Even though this appears like a dead-end in respect of your wheels it appears that the seller is 'bona-fide' which is reassuring ! The price does sound a little on the heavy side though for refurbed wheels.

My own Speedlines could do with a touch of Adrian's genius. I'll have to give him a call as well !

Best regards,

Paul
